Jana 09-13-2004 08:45 PM

I think this is so wrong....

1QUICK4 09-13-2004 08:48 PM

You know it wasn't actually a ban on assault rifles... Only on certain parts you could not put on them. You have always been able to purchase assault rifles, you just need to pass a background check to get the permit (i.e. Permit to purchase handgun/assault rifle).

Jana 09-13-2004 08:52 PM

It's still wrong.... ;)

Super Bleeder!! 09-13-2004 08:55 PM

brian, you and cvd are the only ones who really care....but thats okay, someone has to defend our country from clay pigeons ;)

LightningGSX 09-13-2004 09:03 PM

The law was pretty stupid in the first place. It was to give a false sense of security, while in reality the weapons that were banned, are not any more lethal, concealable or dangerous than ones that weren't.The criminals still had these banned weapons, but law abiding citizens weren't allowed to purchase. This and all gun laws only keep guns out of the hands of the law abiding, not the law breaking.Anyway this is what was banned-

Rifles w/

Folding/telescoping stock
Protruding pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Threaded muzzle or flash suppressor
Grenade launcher

Pistols w/

Magazine outside grip
Threaded muzzle
Barrel shroud
Unloaded weight of 50 ounces or more
Semi-automatic version of a fully automatic weapon

Shotguns w/

Folding/telescoping stock
Protruding pistol grip
Detachable magazine capacity
Fixed magazine capacity greater than 5 rounds

As well as a handful banned by their name Uzi, TEC-9, etc.

Im shittin bricks over this ban expiration. Im a gun fanatic, as some people know.

unreal808 09-13-2004 10:55 PM

"Go ahead and ban the AK the shit wasnt registered any fuckn way"
I have six guns, and could use one more, I have till FEB 25 2005.

Matt D. 09-14-2004 12:01 AM

Even though the ban has expired, there is still a 7 week (?) waiting period if you'd buy a gun right now. That will take it right up to election day. :stick:

A//// Guy 09-14-2004 12:09 AM

You really think a fricking law has kept these guns out of the streets. Thats BS, you can get a gun anywhere, you dont need to go to a shop, people are so ignorant and think that a law is going to really make things worse.

If people want an AK47 they will get it somehow. Since when have laws stopped criminals :headache:

Great now I can use these smilies!

JET 09-14-2004 12:37 AM

Yep, I am very happy! Time to get my handgun permit renewed! I am thinking I need a .40 S&W with a high capacity mag. Yum!

It would be way too hard to draw my Remington XP100 on a robber. I would probably grab the AR-15, but that would leave too many holes in the house :P

1) Legalize Marijuana, as the gov't could regulate it, and sell the "good shit" in cigarettes, voiding the need for dealers.

that kinda reminds me of the survey they gave us a couple weeks ago. They asked us how to stop underage drinkin in the marine corps. We told em there's only 2 ways to stop it. 1 is to only enlist people who are 21 and older, 2 is to just Legalize it at 18. Just cuz it's illegal to own a certain weapon, doesn't mean people aren't gunna get em. Just visit a gunshow in AZ. They have prolly the most leniant gun laws in the whole country. You can get anything there. And ya that law was just a false sense of security. Oh yay, now I can put a flash suppressor on my already lethal AR-15.

:woowoo:

Awww yeah. I'm the happiest person in the world today. Buying magazines and shopping for an AR15. It's like a national holiday for gun owners :jammin:

Iceman 09-14-2004 04:28 PM

This can't bring anything good. :headache:

This removal of the ban changes nothing. The people buying the stuff legally aren't the ones your democrats need to worry about, its the people who were buying the stuff illegally.

really? seems that the ones i was worried about can now legally buy them. also, people who may not have been able to get one before, now have a much easier way of obtaining one.

I love this quote : "Guns don't kill people, stupid people with guns do."

Its to bad that those same stupid people are able to buy guns.

JET 09-14-2004 05:54 PM

The people you should have been worried about are the ones that would go ahead and buy a gun illegally. This doesn't change anything except for the law abiding citizens. I might have to get a permit to carry now that I will have a pistol that I could carry decently (the 16 1/2" barrel on my other one isn't real easy to carry :P )
