im switching to the 3rd gen lifters to hopefully cure some crazy phantom knock. has anyone else done this? is it simple with 2 big screwdrivers for prying, per the vfaq?

LightningGSX 09-02-2004 04:43 PM

Yep

Pushit2.0 09-03-2004 09:17 AM

If they were lifters, this is not a v-8. HLA's.

they lift, i think that qualifies them as lifters

JET 09-03-2004 01:05 PM

Nope, lifters are actuated by pushrods. They are HLA's technically, hydraulic lash adjusters.

LightningGSX 09-03-2004 01:26 PM

Don't the lifters actuate the pushrods? :stick:

illz 09-03-2004 01:31 PM

here i thought they moved up and down under the rocker arm. you say tubor, i say potato

1ViciousGSX 09-03-2004 07:19 PM

The lifters for the 4g63/4 dohc head only remove the excess play/slack in the rocker arm to cam & valve clearance. They do not lift. They are stationary in the head.

Pushit2.0 09-05-2004 10:51 AM

Also there not rockers, they are cam followers, they fallow the cam, they do not rock.

Pushrods rule! Even though most of you Sally types don't even know what they are. :stick:

JustROLLIN 09-05-2004 11:07 AM

1) Lifters actuate pushrods, not the other way around.

2) Mike, some of us DO know what pushrods are. LOL.

Raptor 09-05-2004 11:13 AM

Hows that Joe, see em in an old movie once? :razz2:

Matt D. 09-05-2004 12:09 PM

My Grand Prix has pushrods.

Raptor 09-05-2004 12:40 PM

Correction: Most pushrods rule!

JustROLLIN 09-05-2004 01:17 PM

Yeah, I saw them in Gone in 60 Seconds... LOL

I like pushrods. I also like the OHC replacements for them. I cannot decide which one is truely better though. OHC in theory is better, but in execution it still seems pushrods are for the most part ahead.
