My car whenever I psh the clutch in all the way makes a creeky groany noise and it feels kind of crunchy at the end. Like something is sticking.
I have a 2600 and it has about 25-30k on it (2 years). So Im wondering if anyone has had any similar issues and what to do about it before I tear it apart to see. To my knowledge right now both the master and slave cylinder's are working fine. Engagement is a little low to the floor and thats because I know my pedal assembly is probably wearing out... I am going to work on that but I need to know if that is related or is a seperate issue with the clutch crunchiness. TIA, Peter |
Sound like a tob to me.

Thats great. Anyone else have any ideas? What can go bad with it though? I mean do they fall apart after a while, was it install, or just wear?

go to elite and see if Mo still has the bad TOB from his car.. he ended up having to replace the clutch and the flywheel and PP ...
good luck.. -E |
How the heck does it take out the clutch, PP and flywheel? Other than the tranny grinding a little because of low engagement the clutch seems to be fine and it holds.
I hope its just the TOB. But thats why Im asking... what are some symtoms. Especially in Mo's car? |
think what it does.. use logic... apply to the methodology and you will know why..

my reg 1g has mad a creeky noise sense the 2600 was installed(2 owners ago). It sounds like the clutch pedal assembly to me, but if its coming from the tranny then its not.

Its coming from the tranny.
Enes- If I knew what was making the noise I wouldnt post... There has to be some reason its doing this. Either the shaft is really dry and the bearing is creeking when pushed all the way... or its something else. |
The bearing could be out of grease, there could be some kind of shaft play, of it could be worn out. I swapped a new one on my tranny and the old one has some resistance in it. You can feel it catch a bit while lightly spinning it. I didn't have any problems with it though (noise, etc).
My friends 2g needs one. He is having a hard time getting into gears and it makes noise. Mitsu stocks the bearings. I believe they are ~$20. |
