ok i am rebuilding my engine, and have a few questions. I ordered the complete engine rebuild kit with .02 over pistons, so i need to have the block machined. I know they machine the cylinders, and they "deck" the top of it, but what else do they do. also, should i have anything else machined while i am at it?
also, my valves are all out of whack b/c they hit the pistons. Is it hard to rebuild a head? do i need special tools? would it be a better choice to take that in to a shop and have them rebuild it? Any good machine shops in town? |
bore the block, provide the new pistons for the machinist for measurements.
resurface the block and head. milling/deck is required if yours is in bad condition. you do need a special tool to get to the valves, you should have the machinist replace your valves and valve stem seals. also if you want, he can do the 3 angle valve job so you can have a better seal. you might also have to replace your guides too. good luck. later. |
