i just bought a 1991 galant gsr w/ the non turbo 4g63 and its completely stock. the car wont start. it cranks but has no spark. i think it is that common ecu problem with the leaky capacitors, but i'm not sure. does any one have any more info on this info. any help would be great. i knew the car didnt run when i bought it, but for a car with a mint body and interior for $300, its hard to pass up.

possibly an ecu...do you have inj. pulse also?
its easy to take the ecu out and check for leakage....if its only spark it may be other things also...

Look for corrosion around the caps. If you are unsure, PM LightningGSX on here and he can take a look at it. He also is the one who replaces caps. He is doing my 90 ecu now.

yeah it was leaking. i had a tech at my work look at it who has done a few of these done before. he said it was so bad that he couldn't fix it. so i just bought a remaned one from this place in penn state for $250 and has a one year warranty. not cheap but better than a new one!

What do you want for your old ECU?

i have to send it back for the core, unless you want to give me over $100 ;)
