Just wondering if this is a common problem with Tial Gaskets?

Today makes 1 week of use on the New Tial 38mm Waiste Gate I'm running and on Friday the Gaskets that go between the Manifold to the waiste gate and the Waiste Gate to Dump Tube - both Blew.

And I was wondering if this is a common problem with there Gaskets? I checked all the bolts to see if they were loose. But they weren't. So does anyone have a recommendation for any different Manufacture to use vs. ordering new Tials?

Or what else can I do to prevent this? cause swapping gaskets every week isn't something I'm going to enjoy paying for.

I didn't copper spray them. Do you think that would have helped?

coper spraying them won't help.. beleive me i tried..

i made my own out of coper seath its lasted for 200 miles so far..
maybe we should ask Tial for better ones for free? my housing of the tial side is bulging a little and the exhaust is coming out the middle.. between the bolts..

Both of my gaskets blew in the middle between the bolds.

Manifold one - blew out at the bottom (so air blows downward)
Dump Tube one - blew out the back side (so it blows towards the manifold)

You can see the wholes where the material is gone.

Just use high temp RTV, there gaskets suck.

I was thinking about doing that but didn't know if that would be a good thing or not.

Also noticed my oil feed line is now leaking a little bit. So I have to fix that also.

the silver stuff? won't that burn? i tought that was only good to about 400C and temps there get up to 900C

Well, if anyone wants to buy the best silicone available, I can get you a tube for ~$35. We use it on our stoves at work. This is a full sized 11 oz. tube, so maybe QPR or Elite would buy a tube and sell small amounts? Just a thought.

Ok Question for you guys - I'm blond and it takes me a while to think about stuff.

Anyways. - the waste Gate shouldn't be opening before I hit the 17psi mark right?

IF so then why is it that right before I come out of Vacuum I hear and Exhaust leak? which this whole time I've been thinking was my Waste gate.

I have a 5 bolt exhaust side with only 4 bolts holding it in. Could that be what I'm hearing? And also be the cause of my Slow Turbo Spool up?

Just wondering cause there is no way I'm going to be able to get that 5th bolt in there.

Haha he said "waiste" again! haha sorry just had to.

SlowWhite 07-22-2004 01:44 PM

Force of habbit. I type fast and never proof read. (due to being at work, etc)

JET 07-22-2004 02:26 PM

With the way I made that for you the 5th bolt will definately go on there. That is why I made it straight next to the turbine outlet flange. You just need a shorter bolt for that, preferably an allen head bolt. You have more room on that one than I had on my HRC (Joem has it now).

I knew there was a reason I couldn't get it in there. (ie: we never cut that last bolt?)

And since I've never tried it can i just cut the end and then use my Die/Tap set (sp)

to fix the threads?
