Hey guys,
I'm trying to get the A/C working in my 1G. It's worked fine since I got the car (2 years ago). Summer's been pretty cool up until a week or so ago, so I haven't been really motivated to fix it, but I use my dsm for work a lot & wanna get it cooling again. I've replaced the condenser and drier, and the compressor seems to work properly. But no cooling. On the low pressure side of the system, there's 0 pressure. It's like there's something blocked after the condenser. I thought it was the drier, but when I took my car apart to replace it there was pressure on the 'out' side of it...I ended up replacing it anyway to be sure. Still no luck. So, I'm thinking it's either the expansion valve or something in the evaporator core. I've checked all of the piping around the condenser, compressor, and running back to the firewall. I'm not super exicited about taking the whole f*king dash apart to replace the expansion valve, or even the whole core. Anyone have any suggestions? -scheides '94 TSi AWD |
Can you blow air in and out of the evaporator? and all the lines? are the blend doors working? pulling the dash is not all that bad. :goodluck:

Yea, blend doors seem to be fine, haven't tried blowing through the evaporator yet, but I'll have to try.
On a side note, is ther *any* way to pull the evaporator w/o pulling the dash? Anyone have a time estimate on that job? -scheides |
