I was wondering if there is someway to make my shifter be a lot shorter in height. It is stock except I have an aftermarket shift knob but it sits very tall and it blocks the view of my cd player. I was wondering if there is somway to cut it down without hurting my transmission and stuff?

You can cut it and retap the threads, but you lose some of the mechanical advantage making it harder to shift.Cutting and retapping is not easy either. You could cut a piece out of the center and weld it back together too.

I bought a Razo shift knob that sits much lower than stock... I can sell it to you as I want to buy a different one.... Its used though...

Or pm Raptor as he can help you. (welding, etc)

Or buy a B&M short shifter and get a stock 2G shift knob. Thats the best setup on a 2G!

i have a B&M shifter i got for $110 a month ago, if you want i will sell it to you for same price..... usualy they are $160...

The reason why i am selling is because the car is down for the winter and i'm taking it apart..

I second that.

Get a short shifter. I have one, quite a difference too.

92tsiawd84 got an old civic si shifter from the junkyard to replace the dildo knob.

Yep, shifting much quicker now :bounce: . BTW, what would you want for your shift knob Peter? I may be interested.

I have a 1st gen CRX knob that I modded that works pretty well. I popped off the top piece and scratched the black paint off of the back and painted it red. Basically it's a thick piece of clear plastic with the shift pattern engraved and painted on the backside of it. It looks pretty cool.

No I'm not selling it, just giving some ideas. I would go with a short shifter kit before anything else. I made one on my CRX but that was much easier because the shifter is a direct link to the tranny rather than having cables (much better IMHO).

How much would you want to pay? I would be looking at around 20-25... I got it for 70 its a 200 gram razo shifter.

BUT make an offer.

Sorry to whore this up.

Blk96Eclipse 11-26-2003 10:28 PM

I still havn't decided what to do for sure. I think I'm buying a Tenzo-R shift knob from Propulshun that sits really low and I might buy a B & m short shifter later.

AJ 11-26-2003 10:31 PM

The best shift knob is the stock 2G shift knob.
