What religeon are you guys? My father is a Pastor, so I grew up Hardcore Lutheran.

This a very touchy subject where people can get offended very quickly. I will leave this open until I see the first sign of trouble. Then it's going bye-bye.

I grew up in a Baptist family that stemmed from my dad's parents, and my grandma still goes to church every Sunday, First Baptist Church in Owatonna, MN. From what I learned is that there are two types of Baptists, and I got lucky and was part of the more liberal of the two. My parents never really seemed to care for church or anything. As I grew up and in the ever-lasting quest for more knowledge I came to my own beliefs, and I now claim no religion as my own and believe in evolution over creation.

Jana 07-03-2004 12:15 PM

I grew up Lutheran as well. Went almost every Sunday until I moved out.

Now I just go once in a while with my sister to her church (also Lutheran).

Blade 07-03-2004 12:33 PM

Now I am going to try my hardest not to cause any shit, but, I stand the same place with religon as I do with politics, I want nothign to do with it. I have my doubts and they are VERY strong. My mom is a hardcore catholic and makes us go to church every sunday and or saturday, and live the perfect Catholic Life. I cant stand it. People shouldnt make other people worship someting that they dont believe in or dont care about. It just seems bogus to me.But, i can say withot a doubt that I dont care about religion and I probably never will. I know a bunch of you guys are thinking that, "well, Im just a kid and its just a phase Im going through and you will feel the power of God, or whoever, soon enough." Plenty of people have said that to me, but it wont happen. A bunch of people also ask if I don t believe in a higher power, how can I go to my school? A Catholic, All-boys, Military, college-prep school? Easy, I dont mind the other pillars, as we call them, but when It comes to the religion part, I dont participate, I dont try, and I just dont flat out care. But thats just my opinion, and again, Im not trying to start any shit. This is a very touchy topic for me and I can go on Forever about this, and then some. Im going to go eat my Trix now....silly rabbitt

cudvig 07-03-2004 01:55 PM

dcbladeofanarchy where do you go to school?

Blade 07-03-2004 02:07 PM

St. Thomas Academy

AJ 07-03-2004 02:35 PM

Luthren. Only went to church when I had to when I was younger. Meaning parents drug me there. Once I got confirmed that was the last time I was in a church for anything other than a funeral or wedding.

Blade 07-03-2004 02:36 PM

Mom still make me go, and I have been confirmed for about 3 months now

I'm agnostic.I don't disbelieve in "god", but as of now, the evidence against, far outweighs the evidence for.I think any theistic religion is "bad" and the only "good" religions(if you can even call them religions) are the non-theistic ones such as Buddhism and Taoism. They, by nature of their doctrines, are the only ones that truely are peaceful, moral, and inherently prevent violence(and murderous extremists) in their own name.

Jakey 07-03-2004 04:19 PM

100% Lutheran

JasonR 07-03-2004 04:27 PM

I worship my built 6bolt engine, 20g, GSX eclipse and it is telling me to turn up the boost after I have waisted so much money on supporting mods. She has spoken too me in the past, but now the voices are more often. Been really difficult to concentrate. I am luthern too.

a-lo 07-03-2004 06:47 PM

well i grew up lutheran but didn't go to church alot. A bit before i got married i decided to convert to catholicism. so now i'm catholic. but now i'm also divorced so i go to church even less. i guess i believe in some of the catholic teachings but i don't think i need to go to church to believe what i believe.

Amen, same boat as you.

I don't have a religion, but I'm not Atheist. I believe that there is some higher power. Most of my beliefs are based in Bushido (yes, the Samurai religion) and Bhuddism. I respect all religions, and have a tendency to get pissed at "internet atheists" who are atheist because it's the cool thing to do, or anyone who insults a religion.

I have too much time to think on things.

Anduinlight 07-04-2004 01:18 AM

I'm sorta between religions right now. I grew up as episcipilian (not spelled right) but ever since I moved away from the cities about 8 years ago I stopped going until I met my soon-to-be wife (no cracks Matt) who is hard core lutheren,
I havn't yet discovered all of my beliefs yet, but I would like to think that maybe there is some type of higher being who is helping us through our existance
(read the book series "encarnations of immortality" by Piers Anthony, It gives a really cool take on the whole religion thing)

It doesn't sound like you know much about bushido or buddhism.

Not to start shit, but just stating my opinion of it. I really can say for myself that I have no religion nor am going to consider myself anything, athiest, or any kind of label. I personally think religion is one's reason for living. There might be a higher power and we may be the dolls of it all, but we will never know. With that being said, just live your lives to its fullest and do what you want before you move on to the non living side of life.

What makes you say that? I said most of my beliefs. Not all. If you're talking about the getting pissed off part, then that's not part of my belief. Everyone gets pissed, no matter who you are.

What are you talking about? My comment was totally unrelated to anything previously posted. The "not to start shit" starting of the comment was just a warning to those reading my post because when I told my religious friend that I thought religion was a reason for living/being here, he got defensive. :stick:
