WE HAVE A 91 N/T 2.0 MANUAL TALON WE RUN ON A 1/4 MILE DIRT TRACK. ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE MORE POWER WITHOUT BEING OBVIOUS. OUR RULES ARE . ANY FRONT OR REAR WHEELDRIVE DOMESTIC OR IMPORT, 4-CYL, NO TURBO'S OR 4 WHEEL DRIVES,100INCH WHEEL BASE MAX, 140 HP AND 140 FT LBS. TORQUE MAX (FACTORY SPECS) NO MODIFICATIONS TO ENHANCE HP, BUT THE TECH GUYS HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE ON ANY IMPORT SO I THINK WE COULD GET AWAY WITH COMPUTER MODS AND ANY NON VISIBLE ENGINE ENHANCEMENTS. BY THE WAY WE ARE TRYING TO COMPETE WITH 2 CANADIAN ESCORT GT'S W/1.8'S FOR FIRST WEEKLY. WE CAN OUT HANDLE THEM BUT THEY PULL ON US IN THE FRONT AND BACK STRETCH. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT,CUZ WE CAN'T STAND THOSE COCKY CANADIANS. THANKS

First, please turn off your caps lock.

Depending on if you're willing to tear into the engine at all, gasket matching the head and intake/exhaust manifolds will help. If cam profiles changed throughout the years that the car was made, find the cam(s) that offered the most aggressive profile.

Have you shaved much weight? You can easily shave 200 lbs off the car. Front and rear bumpers are the biggest things (76 lbs).

Can you do anything with the exhaust? Gut the cat at least. Check out DSMtuners.com, they have an NT section there that would be helpful. There aren't really any NT guys on here. Let us know how it is coming!

Where do you race at?

I have heard that a set of cams out of a turbo DSM is the most worthwhile upgrade to do to one of those. And since its a factory cam, you probably wont hear a difference in the idle.

Sorry about the caps lock, I'm on dirt track forum all the time and everyone posts in caps so I just got used to it. Thanks for the advice, keep it coming.
