Newer silver porsche flew by me today on 94 exiting on 494. I attempted to catch up several times, but each time he got on it I just fell back. I didn't even get a good look at the damn thing, all I know is that it was silver...

Did I mention that I was on my rocket   Damn that thing was fast...

THATS NOT BAD!!. I didn't get beat but I got the best run so far by a turbo FORD ESCORT.

YEA thats right ESCORT I"M TRYING to get him to sighn up for mayham. I know he'll show us some numbers

If the Porche said Propulshun on it, it was a younger kid from the cities. He has had that car at Rock Falls before, its a 911 Turbo. Pretty sweet car and its an auto to boot.

People might remember better the video when CVD owned him at Rock Falls in one of the best races I have ever seen. It was probably him. Still you should have still smoked him on your bike, his car was running high 12s, not sure what he was trapping at. You should have left him in your wake with your bike.

Prolly wasnt that car then.

v8klla 06-26-2004 02:13 PM

Like I said, couldn't catch up to him to see if it had any stickers ;)

only problem with this story..
chris you've been riding for a month? experience might have played a roll in this race (not to diss on your or anything).
Either way, sounded like fun!

Ditto. :whipped:

What? I was able to beat a newer porshe 911 with my 2g running rich? I didn't beat him by much though.

JET 06-26-2004 09:45 PM

There is a BIG difference between a 911 and a 911 turbo. Like 140 hp or so.

There is also a big difference between a heavy ass 2g AWD with an untuned 20g and a bike that runs 11.0 in the 1/4.

True that on the rookie driver, I did start in second around the last corner at about 5000 rpm's so it took a second to get moving, but through third and fourth it was pinned and shifting was quick...And he stayed right where he was, like 15 cars in front of me ;)

FattyBoomBatty 06-27-2004 11:10 AM

sorry you didn't beat him, but, i think that people who race motorcycles, especially against cars on highways should reconsider doing that.

seems to me it'd be pretty dangerous, what with soccer moms and cargo vans all over.

CVD 06-27-2004 01:24 PM

Racing a car from that far behind is a world of difference from racing next to a car. Just because you couldnt catch up, or maybe even lost ground, doesnt mean it was entirely faster. Especially if he was able to punch it first. A second or so lead time on him getting on it would have him pulling away pretty decent.

JET 06-27-2004 01:51 PM

If you are racing, a rocket needs to stay above 10k at all times (unless it is a 1000cc). The power peaks for the 600's and 750's are usually 11.5k to 12.5k now, so keeping the rev's up is critical.

v8klla 06-27-2004 01:54 PM

Revs were definately high enough, and as far as racing him it was at like 3:00 in the morning on a deserted four lane road and I was like 15 cars back.

It doesn't matter who starts first, if that bike couldn't catch him through 3 gears either that bike is so far sub par or thats one fast car.

If raced cars on the interstate that trap 130 w/ my 636 and left them mulitple cars behind after 1 gear. Cars just dont have the tip in throttle responce that bikes do,especially boosted cars.
