New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Old lady picked out the following vehicles:
Mazda 3, Jetta, CRV, Mazda CX5. I'm clueless on all this shit, max dollar is $15k. Basically it needs to be worry free like the civic we have. We will have to finance this sucka. Thanks in advance. I'd like her in a AWD SUV for safety sakes, but she does commute to downtown about 17-18 miles each way every day. |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Worry free? Take any German cars off the list. Good bye Jetta.

Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Worry free like civic - so the CRV then? Problem is they hold value, so you'll have to get an older year vs a mazda 3 or something.
Our mazda is pretty nice, but it's a CX7 (terrible gas mileage - 20 max), so not a direct comparison to the CX5 really. |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
From that list and your criteria. CRV all day.
I hear you on safety concern. With that, I believe the Forrester has the highest crash test ratings of all cars on the road.. Something to consider. |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Ok I'll have to look at the forester or see if she will.

CRV fo sho.

Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
I second the forester. Very safe cars.
Crv are nice but they hold value very well. Cx5 are nice but kinda cheap on the inside. Jetta are a solid car. But iam not into them that much. But they do get killer mileage if you get the diesel engine. Girlfriends lady friend has one amd loves it. She hasnt had any problems with it. Good luck in the hunt. |

I have my acura and I love the car to death, same reason I will be getting another Honda. If you truly want worry free, Honda is the way to go imo. My acura is for sale btw ;)

CRV for sure. That's going to be my next DD. Interior is very comfortable and they drive nice.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input a lot of the same things being said here which is awesome.
Any specifics on what years and what not? Bobby mentioned early to mid 2000s Mazda 3s were rust buckets. |

CRV is a great vehicle. But bang for your buck because they hold their value, you're probably over 100k miles. |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
For 15k get like a nearly new Fit or Focus?
|
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
That's partly why I suggested the Forrester. They depreciate slightly faster than the CRV, Quality is equal, better crash ratings, and I believe equal or better mpg.

But historically have been top rated in crash ratings. And the forums note even the older models can crack 30mpg highway. |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Looks like 2010 CRV with 100k miles are around the 15k mark.
Similar year Forester with 60k miles around the same price. As for the AWD system, I'd take a subaru over honda. But then you own a subaru...... lol |
Re: New DD for the old lady and babies- $15k, she has 4 top runners.
Spendy for such high miles but I found a couple base crvs with low miles for 15ish. I suppose you already have a truck for hauling, so does she need a suv? Maybe look at a impreza like AJ bought if you want awd, or just get a newer accord and some snow tires.
Forester seems like a good deal: http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...4619/overview/ Loaded CRV http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...1985/overview/ Cant go wrong with a yota either http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...1294/overview/ |
