I have a buschur 2.5 turboback and it is just too noisy for me, Its really drony on the highway, but I like the sound at idle.
I dont know what is one of the quieter mufflers you can get that is just universal. I want to cut off the current Dynomax ultraflo that is on there and put somthing quieter on. Anyone have any suggestions on what mufflers you have used and what sounds maybe a little louder than stock? I have been looking at these brands... apexi N1, borla, magnaflow, blitz, HKS... Any suggestions would be sweet! Thanks, Peter |
The one's that don't make power are quiet.
The APEX-i N1 is probably the best choice. |
I used to have a stock one on. That was pretty quiet. ;)
Now I have a full N1. I don't think it is too quiet though. |
Any aftermarket Muffler is going to sound loud. There's just no way around it as far as I know.
An N1 you can put that plug in the end to quite it down But then basically your turning your 3" exhaust into 1.5"'s since that's how big that plug makes the inside of your muffler. I have my Plug if you want to see if it fits in your current set up. You can have it for Free since I never use it. |
Buy a muffler with baffles in it, slows down exaust flow and reduces hp, but should be quiet. I have stock catback on my car, nice and quiet.

I dont know I guess I want to hear some peoples cars maybe with the N1. Ive ridden in an AHP car and it was much quieter than mine and it was 3", I think AHP uses hooker mufflers. |
Mines not to loud on the highway. I've a 3'' turbo back with only a glass pack were the cat was.

My system is 3 inches w/ no cats to a twin tip magnaflow. It has a deep tone, but isnt too loud.

1g or 2g? get the dynomax super turbo 3" offset in, 3" center out
tip makes the most difference, get a split tip from RRE instead of a tip that's larger than the outlet of the muffler, otherwise it's just a megaphone |
If you want quite go Johns route Stock Cat Back with 3" Cut out. hehe - worked so far for him upto 516whp at Elite.

I've got a bigger engine then you guys and have a 3" turbo back into a flowmaster delta flow. That's pretty quiet. I'm pretty sure flowmaster makes a series designed for "sport compacts" also, AKA you small engines guys :whipped:
|
What does that truck engine need a high flow muffler for? It's not like you are going to make any power with it! :stick:

You could keep what you have and add a resonator...

I have 3" downpipe to Thermal 3" catback whick has a can (huge) and a 5"tip, its is just low. Its only really loud at full throttle in upper rpms.
The silencer idea works good too, my friends gf puts the silencer in whenever she drives long distances and it helps alot, tho her car is non turbo. |
