New Job - PaR Systems
Life has been so busy between the new family, full time work (& travel), and full time night classes so I've been a bit absent lately. But anyhow just thought I'd mention I started a new job on the 13th.
So long story, there's is a company called PaR Systems in Shoreview. They basically have a whole bunch of automation/robotics technology segments they dabble in like water jets, robotic welding, paletizing, nuclear, etc. A larger company called Westinghouse came in and bought their Nuclear Refueling segment about 10 years ago, and named it PaR Nuclear. So two companies, sharing the same building, same logo, but over the few year buy out process they were eventually separate companies. PaR Nuclear is who I've worked for for the past 9 years. PaR Systems eventually moved out and into a new facility in Shoreview. I got to a point at PaR Nuclear where I was getting bored and felt stuck, and a new potential opportunity showed up. So on October 13th, I resigned from Nuclear and started a new job over at the original PaR Systems. They recently acquired a company from Georgia called CAMotion, and I'm was hired as the Application Engineer for this new segment. I've been super swamped and far from bored at this new place being the new guy trying to figure out WTF I'm even doing, but so far so good! I've made two trips to the HMMA Hyundai plant and holy shit that is cool stuff. Hundreds of robots just going to town, almost creepy actually but very cool. Anyway, that's all, new chapter in my career path and thought I'd share! Here's some links if anyone cares to know more http://www.par.com Can get an idea of everything PaR dabbles in, lots of cool shit. http://www.camotion.com Videos of the stuff I will be working on in there. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KH-QJLewLnk Video of the plant I've been working at, crazy cool shit |

Congrats! Do you write code for the machines then?
|
Re: New Job - PaR Systems
Not yet. I did write the programs for the machines I used to work on, but I still have a lot to learn about these before I get to that point. I am mainly just dialing them in at site more or less for now.

Re: New Job - PaR Systems
This is pretty interesting stuff. My buddy Matt worked at Par, contract through Applied, a while back as a Design Engineer. He loved that everyone there was actually knowledgeable. I'm an Application Engineer myself, and recently working in automation. We're trying to decide what to use as our standard robot. I believe we are mostly working with Adept's now.
