Running engine off gas vapor only
 

Just throwing this out there since Tom and I have been discussing it today. Seems like there are quite a few examples out there on the web just from doing some browsing. From small engines in lawn mowers to cars, it seems to work.

Its intrigued me to do my own tests since it is hard to believe this wouldnt be common place to save an enormous amount of fuel, so ill have to acquire a small engine to play around with.

I had originally thought this was just an internet falsehood, but may be worth a try on my lawnmower as a test vehicle.
If you could run a generator off of this that may be quite a cheap electricity alternative.

the same argument i made to my brother (not a car guy). The only thing i could possibly think this is feasible is on carbed motors. but who knows.

If a motor needs X A/F ratio to run properly, how exactly are you going to short the fuel side of that and still run? So the fuel is already atomized, doesn't explain how to maintain stoic with less of it.

Engines already run off gas fumes. None atomized liquid gas does not light/explode very well.

GEET has free plans for small engines, but I don't think they're refined enough to run any load.

Smokey Yunnick's hot vapor engine has been a long time interest of mine. Pressurized gas vapor heated to 450 degrees is one reason I'm inclined to not try it, but it's an interesting and counterintuitive idea.

Yeah, this is no different really from a normal engine setup except where the vaporization takes place.

Exactly, it still needs the same amount if fuel no matter where it's atomized. I think this rumor fits along with the dry ice method of dent removal.

So the videos I posted must not be legit then? Must be a hiding gas tank and carb not shown someplace.

I don't see why the video wouldn't be legit. It's perfectly reasonable for the engine to run on gas vapor like that. What isn't reasonable is the expectation that there would be any kind of fuel savings. Stoich is stoich - there is no getting around the math.

Hot vapor is another story. The theory is that a super heated and pressurized fuel vapor can run extremely lean afr's - resulting in less fuel being needed. In practice though, the heat generated by the process is more than a standard engine can handle as far as longevity goes. Would likely need ceramic engine components or something else as durable for it to be reliable
