weird no start issue
im having a really weird no start.
getting fuel getting spark injectors wont fire. I replaced mpi, replaced resistor pack, timing is all on. the weird part is in my dsmlink log, my throttle is 100% and the tps sensor is 5v this is without touching the pedal. then when I crank and look at the log it drops to where it should be, throttle reads 0, and tps says .63 the car wont start. just cranks what do you guess think? is it possible the ecu is telling the injectors not to fire because its being falsely told its at wot? I have no idea why it wont start. it was running, then turned it off. it hasent started since :madashell: proving grounds is only 18 days away!!!! im adding the log, maybe that can shed some light? |

Re: weird no start issue
I can't look at your log right now, are any other sensors reading wrong or is it just TPS? Do you have a keystart signal while cranking?
|
Re: weird no start issue
Disconnect your tps connector and see if it's still pegged at 5v

Re: weird no start issue
What is ur tps offset? Did u check your throttle cables?
|
Re: weird no start issue
The TPS at 100% is causing you to get no fuel at all, it's built into most cars as a cure for flooding if needed.
Swap out the TPS with another one and try again. |
Re: weird no start issue
Can I use any mitsu tps ? Or does anyone have one for sale ?
|
Re: weird no start issue
I have a extra 2g tps

Re: weird no start issue
What's wrong with the tps? Have u even checked to see what's going on yet? It could have came loose or moved. The throttle cables could be the issue also. Check the tps offset as well to see if it had been out of adjustment before and someone just used link to fix instead of checking the bolts and turning it to the correct value. Obviously mark can hook you up with a new one, but it was posted earlier to also check other sensors to be sure you don't have multiple issues as the tps is tied into a bunch of sensors.

Re: weird no start issue
No matter what, throttle cable problems would not have you at 100% throttle on the TPS. I'm assuming he didn't recently mess with the adjustment, that's why I'm guessing there's a problem with it. You could always ohm it out to know for sure, but swapping it with another is usually the easiest.

Re: weird no start issue
Sure throwing parts at it is easiest, sometimes. Proper pinpoint diagnosis is the correct way.
He said he made adjustments then it wouldn't start. So we can't assume it's not a setting in ecmlink causing the no start. Either way the 5v pegged TPS drops back to .63v during cranking which eliminates "clear flood mode" as the cause of the no start. It would need 5v while cranking to shut off the injectors. Make sure you have your 5v going to the TPS. Also make sure the TPS sensor ground is good. The signal back to ecu should have a sweeping .63v-5v closed to fully open. |
Re: weird no start issue
damn so quick to jump me here. I'll explain. I was referring to a throttle cable issue I have seen before. maybe the tps is loose and the cable pulls it to 100, also he should make sure it has the proper adjustment also. I would assume the tps is not the issue as he has stated pretty much that he has seen full sweep of it now. who knows maybe he doesn't have it plugged in well either. For someone with link the diagnosing of issues like this is just much easier with some common sense and a little effort usually.

Re: weird no start issue
Does anyone have a black top I can use to test?
|
Re: weird no start issue
Got it running!!!
|
Re: weird no start issue
What was it?
|
Re: weird no start issue
Tps. When plugged in. It wont run. Unplugged it fires right up.

Re: weird no start issue
So to update this. I had another set back. I tested wiring. Tested sensor. Both tested out good.*
At this point I was at a loss. So I removed the sensor and purchased another one. Only then when taking out the sensor. I looked at it and found a small part of plastic lodged in the spring. Causing it to stay wide open.* My car is haunted by dsm gremlins . Im adding that to the list of weird issues ive had owning this car :/ |
Re: weird no start issue
So is its back up running?

I feel your pain. Every time I tried to make it to the shoot out I just couldn't get the car ready in time.
