Re: Timing belt instalation help
As far as information about the timing goes:
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-2G.html I suggest to get the special tools. This is the kit I got. http://www.jayracing.com/timing-belt...kit-p-214.html I think you could suffice with the tensioner tool alone. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here with one that would let you borrow it. Hope this helps. |
Re: Timing belt instalation help
Timing belt is very easy if you follow the VFAQ. Step #27 I believe tells you to use factory belts. Its very important to use factory. I know from experience.

Re: Timing belt instalation help
Super easy, once you do it you'll be astounded. Just make sure the gap is right. I made my own tool using a long grade 10 bolt and re-cutting threads into it, add some lube to threads before inserting  works great.

Re: Timing belt instalation help
A little hint, the factory battery hold down bolt for 1G's can be used at the tensioner tool buy threading it up a bit more.

Re: Timing belt instalation help
I don't even use the bolt anymore. I just use the pin.
