Recommendations for a mechanic/bench vice.
 
I had a HF 6" or 8" swivel and it was junk.
Just needed for general car stuff and welding crap.

I have no experience with this but I was at menards yesterday and looked at them. They seem pretty solid and a pretty good price.

I got a prograde vice from fleet farm. I believe its a 6 in. I smash joints out on it and just really beat the shit out of it all the time. I've had to reinforce my workbench several time to handle the loads I stick on it. The only thing I dislike about it is the bar used to tighten it. Seems a little wimpy and would probably bend if you got too crazy tightening something.
