Fishing 2013

Time to start a new thread for 2013. Last year was a good year. Hopefully this year is even better. Does anybody tournament fish? I'm a host of 2 bass tournaments with some buddies. I would like to get out with mitsustyle members who loves Bass fishing.

What kind of setups do you guys have? So far I've got 3 setups since last year. I've switched my Pflueger Patriarch to a Shimano Ci4 2500 on my G. Loomis NRX. Earlier this year I picked up a 7'5" G. Loomis NRX casting rod paired with an Abu Garcia MGX with Boca bearings. Also a Lew's tournament Pro casting reel with a Gander Mountain Elite rod.

Caught 5-6 (can't remember) bass this weekend fishing, didn't do a ton as weather was bad. But a few decent ones, nothing crazy.

I miss fishing. Maybe some day this year I can go. I would love to try muskie fishing someday before I get to old.

I would like to try a tournament this year. I have a 15' Tri hull bass boat, merc 75 19p prop.

I fish Lake Minnitonka hard most of the year. Last year I landed a 4.5lb large mouth, I fish spinning combos, I have 2 7' medium acrion gander mountain rods and a shimano 4000 series on one and a shimano 1000 (? Its small) series both with rear fighting drag. I have a box full of goodies but normal throw a spinner on the 2nd weed line or structure close to shore.

10 casts off the mother in laws dock resulted to nice size bass. Man her lake is awesome!!!

Makes me want to really get out and hit her lake good this year. In the past we've pulled dozens of 5+ lb bass 40-46" Muskie, 42" northern a few 28-30" walleye and dog fish that almost broke the state record!!!

For a 40 acre lake it's crazy and private;)

I got out with my dad last weekend. We fished the king's cove area of the Mississippi down by hastings. I got a 31" northern and a 15 inch crappie. A couple weeks earlier I went up to his house and we got probably 7 or 8 bass all over 16", biggest being about 18.

What's the weight on bass? The length doesn't matter for bass in my opinion.

Re: Fishing 2013

I should of weighed the 2 we caught but my father in law stole my 9v out of it. I would guess the one my son is holding was around 3.5 lbs.

As far as invites go, it's just a private lake connected to a few large lakes through the sunrise river. (Forest lake being one of them)

I think I posted a few pics last yr or the yr before of the fish we caught out of there.

In the first pic you can see how far the lake goes (not far) and its almost a perfect circle. Gets deep to almost 70 ft

We didn't have a scale but I'd estimate they were all between 2 and 3.5 pounds.
