so if tons of people sign this then cops will all the sudden forget any former prejudices they once had? no matter how many people sign this cops will pull over whomever they want and they will find a reason. it sucks, but thats how its gonna be. :fworld:

I don't think DSMers are honest citizens...with maybe the exception of E-Man.

MATCHBX 06-04-2004 08:33 AM

Just remember, there is a thing called probable cause. There is a list a mile long that police can pull you over for to find out if there is something else wrong. Things like stickers in the windows or things hanging from the rearview mirror, etc.

naughty biZkit 06-04-2004 09:49 AM

well, i sign it, but again i agree - there is no way a petition can chcange what cops think and all their sick beliefs. i am on the other side - got pulled over 24 times last year and ended up only with one and a half ticket - i used to argue that this has NOTHING to do with me being a female, but hey, lets be real ....
.... waiting for some bitterness in response from you guys now ;-) :stick:

ok so your saying the laws they passed about racial profiling meant nothing. Its not all a matter of cops stopping us for no reason, they're pigs, thats what they do. its a matter of when you go to court on one of these bogus charges there is more of a likelyhood of not being convicted if there was a law against this sort of behavior.

Jana hits the nail on the head again.

I think of it like this. A lot of these sports cars running around now are either:

A) Stolen from honest people like you or I

or

B) Used to traffic Methamphetamine and Weed into the big city. Meth has become a huge problem, as well as other drugs like X and Acid.

Cops are using the technicalities of the law to stop people because that one time outta 100 they do, they may catch some gang bangin bastard in your car, with 20 keys of Meth.

And if you feel you've been profiled, you need to document in writing with photocopies of EVERYTHING the events that took place. Remember the agency, the name of the officer who stopped you, the number on the car, EVERYTHING. Then file a formal complaint.

#1 Rule of thumb in law enforcement:

IF IT'S NOT DOCUMENTED, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN....

I'm glad to hear the concerns of the "young ones" here on the site. It should help me understand more the opposite perspective when I am at work, but you have to understand that these laws, ordinances, and regulations are set forth by the people, for the people. No taxation without representation??? Fuck the online petition. Draw a formal document, get people to sign their Name, DOB, DL#, and document specifics. Then you have a case. I'd be glad to help.

I got pulled over a couple of weeks ago in Newport because I didn't signal a turn. I was leaving NAPA and going tohe back way to get to the lights on 61 when i forgot to signal my turn. The officer pulled me over and it turns out I left my license in my other pants pocket. I gave him my license number, name and address and he went back and ran it. He then asked me why I was leaving the Boyd Motel. I explained to him that I was just at NAPA and went that way so i could get back onto 61. I showed him my receipt from NAPA and he was cool about the whole thing. He didn't even ticket me for not having my license on me.

He then explained to me that even if I would've used my turn signal he would've found something to pull me over for. They were trying to crack down on the drugs and stuff that have been going thru the motel. He thought i had come out of the motel.

So basically what I am saying is that sometimes it's not even because of the car you drive. Sometimes it's the way you drive or where you are at a specific time. Just remember, they are only doing their job. Obviously if you are getting pulled over more than a couple of times a year, you're doing something to get yourself noticed. And more than just the car you're driving.

Good idea but it won't change anything

Kracka 06-04-2004 09:17 PM

Shane got it dead-on.

Thank you. Thank God someone understands.

Why does the chick at the gas station always ask if I had gas (kinda personal if you ask me)

Because SHES ONLY DOING HER JOB. If you don't like cops, move to Texas/
