Re: Wealth Inequality in America
This was pretty interesting! I never would have thought things were that unequal lol

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
Watched that video last week or so. Crazy. Things just aren't how they used to be.

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
If you want politics to be left out of it, why did you post it in the politics section?
|
Re: Wealth Inequality in America
because it has to do with the country and economics, opposing viewpoints on how this should be done. I didnt want this to turn into a this side or that side is to blame, but it fits here because of the different opinions usually based on political leanings.

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
Wealth inequality is a simple fact of life, some people work hard, some do not. This has been since the dawn of time. If you're saying we should somehow equalize all of this, that's been tried many times, and failed.

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
^That sounds like a crap idea.

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
Interesting. I wouldn't go as far as saying that having wealth means you work harder though.

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
Yeah, they could be lucky or just work smarter. I do agree that it is really out of whack, but it is another one of those things where there is no reasonable way to fix it. One thing that I am sure many are thinking is to tax them more and that would lead to issues of emigration, which has already been on the rise because of the latest tax hikes. Closing some of the tax loopholes is probably the first step that should be taken.

Interesting vid, and not surprising.
Is there a table to say XX income is at XX %? |

Re: Wealth Inequality in America
While I do not fall in the 1% group or anywhere near it, I do feel that if you want it you have to go get it. Nothing is handed out for free; nor should it be unless it is related to survival. The last figure of the CEO making 380x the average employee is a bit absurd, however I truly wonder if redistributing that wealth into the general population will stimulate the economy; or just further pollute the value of the dollar. I wonder how this would stack up if you take the value of the dollar into context and how it's changed over the past 30 years.
