That's badass, what are your plans for a powerplant in that thing?

turbo lsx and T56 get my vote.

Re: 87 mustang build

to be completely honest I was thinking turbo sbc with turbo 400 but I got a hired at a pretty good job today and im maybe thinking 2jz 4l80e combo just have to see how this job goes over the next couple weeks

Re: 87 mustang build

Ls swap. Sbc's are nice but no comparison with a decent ls

Did not see that coming.
Looks like a nice clean slate to start with, good luck with the project.

Re: 87 mustang build

this is wat will stop the ls swap for me the fact that everyone is running ls engines now U actually see old sbc way less now

Re: 87 mustang build

What everyone else is doing shouldn't stop you from following the beaten path. There's reason why they chose the LSx motor over others. Not to mention you'll be able to research what others are doing.

Just my .02. But I seem that small block chev with a holset so I know you personally don't need guidance.

Don't do the 4G63t!

Re: 87 mustang build

i was seriously debating doing that 4g63 but i think i decided againt that but the other deciding factor is i have a build 355 with ported heads ha ha that has had a turbo setup on it already so i know the engine can handle it

Re: 87 mustang build

Don't do a turbo sbc. Pain in the ass unless you want to spend alot of money on a good fuel injection system. Turbo 5.3 is my vote.

lol i already got all my sbc stuff figured out why would u have to spend a bunch on fuel injection?ive had the same setup in 3 different vehicles always seems to work pretty good

Re: 87 mustang build

I would leave the sweet decal on and be a sleeper haha.
If you already have a SBC setup go with that! Will still be a fun ride.
Otherwise do the LS setup, just because it's common doesn't mean it's not good.

Re: 87 mustang build

If you have a motor then rock it, but I don't care for the old carb stuff or just the old stuff in general, but you can make great power for cheap with them if you know what you are doing.
