Ive got a friend that has a 97 talon tsi with the p/s pump not working so well. Just wanted to know if my 1g awd pump will work or not. Any ideas?

Just take the belt off and be done with it... ;)

As long as the belt is off, you might as well undue the 4 bolts holding it in and remove the pump.

It isn't my car. its my budies. I already told him he didn't need it but that didn't work. Looks like he's gonna spend some $$$$ for a new/used one.

If he is worried about how much of a difference in effort it will be to turn the car (and if he's in the twin cities), I'll let him try my car out so he can see how it feels. It's not as bad as he thinks. But I do realize some people can't live without power steering.

I picked up a used 2G pump a while back for something like $45 off car-part.com.

i have one sitting under the table.. it still has fluid in it..make me an offer.. it only has 60k miles on it... worked fine when it was on the car...
