03 Evo VIII no reverse
 

So I went on the cruise it all started out good no issues the first leg of the trip we stop for lunch get in get food get out and as we were leaving I put in in reverse and it felt a little funky really didn't think to much of it and we took off from Danbury.
Get up to hotel in Superior had to use reverse and nothing it goes in but gets kicked out with a little grind 1-5 no problems and clutch is new.
Any thoughts? Did reverse blow up on me? Or is it something stupid, small quick fix "which knowing my luck it wont be". Please help, anyone encounter this problem before.

My guess is clutch adjustment or a kinked/binding shifter cable/bushing.
