2006 Evo IX
Hello, I just bought a evo 9 it is WW with the SSL package. I was told this is the place to be! I made the switch from a 05 srt 4. The evo right now is a tad slower but I feel that is a MUCH better upgrade(I LOVE this car), I am surprised with how little I care I sold the car I have owned for 4 years and feel in love with this new one. The evo I bought has some bolt on's, I think the preivous owner took some off just out of thought. ex the cams just because the car doesnt sound anything like it has cosworth m2 cams compares to hearing other evo's with 272 camshafts. But heres a list the prevous owner gave me of everything done to it
Engine- AMS front mount AMS boost controller AMS poly front mount ARP head studs Cosworth m2 cams Cosworth head gasket DC sports downpipe (cat less) ETS intake, See pics(has ets couplers but intake says AEM) Greddy Ti-C exhaust Megan o2 housing Nisei intercooler piping Nisei mini battery PTE 1000cc injectors Walbro 255 (cars begging for e85) Mynes hood dampers Suspension- DS brake pads (never heard of them?) MR blisten stuts Swift spec r springs Transmission- AMS shifter and under hood bushings Exedy twin HD cerametallic disc clutch Misc- defi boost gauge beatrush alumn under pan mitsu jdm rear bumper, tails, side markers Perrin shorty antenna Rexpeed vortex generator Heres some pics of the car. Hopefully you guys can help a noob out, and such. I plan on taking the car to shane to have it tuned on E85 and getting a switch so I can run 93 octane if I wish, I hope with the mods (if their all there) could be a 12 second car? Id like it to be around the same as my srt (high 11's) but i dont know about that I plan on daily driving it and sometimes autoXing it, I will probably only ever hit the 1/4 at proving grounds and itll be the test and tune just because I just like to see where the car is at. I will be taking off the valve cover and seeing if it has the arp studs and cosworth cams. Hopefully this weekend if I can get a new VC gasket read they like to leak once removed. I was told to join up by Goodhart, he also said this is chucks old car. If anyone knows who he is. http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...er/msumeet.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...jpeg_2evob.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...6_203404-1.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...jordanwing.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...raph_dyno1.png http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...726_203440.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...726_180608.jpg She loves the Recaro's http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/...ser/jordan.jpg |
Re: 2006 Evo IX
Congrats on the new car! (don't lose the kid racing)
EDIT: do E85 and don't look back, seriously. Even if you have to drive a little ways to a station, worth it in my opinion. |
Re: 2006 Evo IX
Haha, thanks man. That wont happen, this car is a baby! The daughter love's it as well. Everytime we leave the house I ask her daddys car or mommys car and she points at the evo, heheh
See over here I can get it pretty locally, Im just worried if these have any problems running it?, I know in SRT's it messed up the fuel sending unit I had one go out, and it was common to mess up the walbros made for them. |
Re: 2006 Evo IX
Hey man... Its Jake with the white AWD Spyder. Nice Evo! Welcome to the site!

Re: 2006 Evo IX
Welcome! This looks like chukeer's old car. Great setup! Keep the cams if they're still in it. It doesn't sound like other 272 cars b/c your car has mivec...at idle it'll sound nearly stock.
Also IIRC the car has Ferodo DS2500 pads, my favorite pads...they're dusty but I've run them on both my evos for the last 6 years...love'em. If the car is on pump gas right now, get it on e85 and you'll never think about your SRT again....you'll run low 12's no problem and potentially high 11's, even on the stock turbo. Beautiful car. Come to the All-Mitsu Cookout in a few weeks! |
Re: 2006 Evo IX
If you're a good driver you should be able to hit high 11's on pump gas on that setup and maybe low 11's, high 10's on e85. Ron does it, but he has a couple hundred lbs on you as well.
Welcome to style! Now sign up for the cruise! :) |

Re: 2006 Evo IX
Welcome and nice looking car! If it is still making 333awhp at DB then you should be able to hit 11's no problem. Looks like a solid mod list so far, just watch the injectors and fuel pump if you go E85 as you might get close to their limits. That stuff is awesome though, run it if you can!

Re: 2006 Evo IX
1000's are plenty for stock turbos.

Re: 2006 Evo IX
Awesome yes as i posted in original post i was told its chuckees old car. It may have cams as idle will sometimes flux around and boost gauge does bounce.
But yeah Im talking to shane now i wanna tune it end of the month or sometime next month. What weekend is the cook out? Depending on i may be able to come. |
Re: 2006 Evo IX

Re: 2006 Evo IX
So as this chuckee is obviously well know, can someone provide me more info on the car verfy the mods was it taken care of by him? Would love to know as much as i can on this car.
|
Re: 2006 Evo IX
Chuckee was more anal about his car than I am. He modified the car correctly and took nice care of it.
|
Re: 2006 Evo IX
Welcome to Mitsusyle! Chuckee took pretty good care of his car. I didn't even know he had that much in mods.
And ditto on coming to the All Mitsu Cookout on August 26th. later, Curt |
