transmission/transfer case broken. need some help
 

So, i pulled the t case, axles out already and am ready to pull the tranny.
Buttt i need some help as ho to tell what is wrong first.

I've been driving the car for about a week. did a few launches one night,after that i noticed a vibration when not under a heavy load. It would stop when under about half throttle. i knew something wasnt right but didnt think much of it.

yesterday, i was out taking my pops for a ride, I was going up a slight hill in 2nd gear and heard a clunk. pulled over right away. sat around for a few minutes called roadside assistance, they took to long to answer so i tried seeing if i could make it home. i started creeping super slow, it moves then i hit about 3mph and started clunking. It seems like its only grabbing half the teeth on a gear or something. im no tranny expert at all, complete rookie.

the passenger side front axle had play in th right where it went into the tranny.

what should i look for/do to pinpoint if it is my tcase or tranny?

Sorry for the crappy description and all, I have a shit load of tools outside and stuff so i need to get back out there haha. I'll be back on later tonight.

To bad your in cali. I would come over and help ya. Have you drained the fluid on either of them yet?

haha, i know. thanks though man. I drained the tranny fluid, had allot of metallic flakes in it, burnt as hell, and a few little chunks lolz. the transfer case looks like new, input/output shafts looks fine.

Should the tcase spin easily by hand? because i cant turn it at all.

Metal chunks came out with the trans fluid?

And yes you should be able to spin the transfer case easily, just stick your thumb into the input it should spin.

Yea I'd say that trans is fucked. I speak from experience.

Yeah, I seen a few chunks lol. transfer case is good though.

I'm pickin up a trany/t case in a couple hours.

when i have the money im going to get a shep. I picked up a used tranny and t case on craigslist yesterday for 100 bucks. had it all back together by 9:00. filled it up with some redline mt90 and mtl. filled the t case with mt 90 aswell. working good so far
