Big problem

I was driving home last night from working experiencing my tachometer jumping all over the place. Im thinking this would be a misfire so I went home and swapped out power transisters/coilpacks.

That didnt work so I plugged the old ones back in and now this is where the horror begins.

The car BARELY starts and when it does, I have to give it a little gas, but even then it sounds like its running HORRIBLY.

I checked all my plugs and they seem to be in good shape, bpr6es ngk with new ngk wires just replaced so it cant be that.. could it?

Almost like its firing off 1 piston only..

So I thought to myself "Hey, why not check the ECU cause you've been putting that off since forever."

So I did.

Heres what came about.

^^minor acid damage and a crappy caps replacement job

UPDATE: Swapped out spark plugs to avail. But I figured out that cylinders 2 and 3 are getting no spark at all.

Could it be the power transistor? I have 2 others to change out but they all do the same thing... @_@ Im puzzled here guys ;(

That is a hacktastic job right there. You are definitely going to want to get your hands on a new one.

You could probably reuse that one, but you'll want to clean all that crap up and start with a proper cap replacement job.

Do you know anyone that could do all of the above?

I'd send it to ecmtuning. They've done ecu repair for me in the past and have been great. Over on Tuners there was a guy who's user name was Steve that also did a good job of ecu repair, not sure if he is still around or still does it though.

Re: Big problem

It sounds like you have a bad coil or wire to it. 2 and 3 run off the same coil, so that is where I would look first.

Re: Big problem

No spark in #2/3: coil pack, transistor pack, ecu, CAS, or wiring to any of these items. Start with coils and transistor pack.

Re: Big problem

My vote is transistor pack

Re: Big problem

ordering new/used transistor pack. will update with results!

UPDATE:

Turns out it wasnt the transistor pack..

I traced the harness back a little and found 1 wire that wasnt connected from what looked like a previous job someone did poorly... Soldered the wire back and now shes purring again!!
