Yeah it's $2.19 out in Burnsville, so I called my boss and asked if we could stay low until tm morning. So until about 6am, we will be at $1.93 for 87 and $2.03 for 92. Anyhoo, Sinclair, County Road 42 and 35W, right by b'ville center.

Gas Sucks. At least we aren't driving V8s! :secret:

dont even start to complain dude...Gas price's aren't as near as bad as they were in the 70's man look at inflasion(spelling?) back then... by todays standards it would have to be around $3per gal to match the inflasion of the 70's. I'm not complaining man the most your spending more compared to like say a year ago is a few mor dollar's...so maybe dont eat that mc donald's your gonna go buy and get your gas...spend those few more dollars in all acuallity isnt that much...I'm not really conserned about it untill the price's hit $2.50-$3per gal... Yeah it sucks but it's gas and we all need it... Anyways I was talking to a few guys that work at ashland oil in st paul park...and I found out a big reason gas is so "spendy" is that one of there machinces that helps produce gasoline went down a little while ago and there trying to get it back up... the price's should also be relived because the world wide oil companies also did something or another and lowered the cost of oil i guess I read that some where. So there is a end in site, for lower gas price's.

I guess I'm really saying I dont give a crap really... plus all the crap I wrote above too lol

The oil companys don't determine the price of gas. The market determines that, but the oil companys just decide the number of barrels they want to produce.

The oil/gas companies control the prices by limiting production to create a higher demand with a lower supply available.

so, what your saying is that in fact the oil companies DO determine the price of gas...?

supply and demand. think about it.

A//// Guy 05-21-2004 03:50 PM

NO they just make it go either up or down. They dont make the prices for the gas we buy though. They make the barrel price... if that goes up then gas goes up.

FattyBoomBatty 05-21-2004 04:03 PM

supply and demand.

OPEC essentially determines the gas prices. They set the amount of production for all of the countries. They are basically all middle eastern countries. They cut oil production about 6 weeks ago and that is why the gas prices went up. OPEC is an evil thing. It is a monopoly on oil, just like DeBeers is on diamonds.

The US does not allow monopolies to sell in the US, that is why there are diamond importers that go overseas to buy diamonds. Monopolies are in total control of the market, but are suceptable to upstart companies. The problem is that the supply of raw materials (crude oil) is limited, so the possibility of an upstart company is very small. We really are at the mercy of the middle east.

This has been your economics lesson for the day. We now return you to your regularily scheduled program...

Boy, you bitch about our prices over here. Try over in Europe where 10 years ago a gallon of 93 octane (they had higher octanes in Norway, 93 was about the lowest) would run you about $4-5!! That was 10 years ago!!!!!

Jacek 05-21-2004 07:03 PM

lowest octane i saw in poland was 94 i think. im just gonna quit smoking.. benefit on that one either way :)

fmicmatt 05-21-2004 07:19 PM

Its the same here now as it was last year in Hawaii..............I'm used to it.
