I've heard there are differences between the laptop cords and the palm cords. Is it just pin location? If so, which pins do you have to switch? If not, what has to be done to switch them? I have a laptop cable but would like to use my palm for logging.
Thanks in advance. |
I think it is pins 2 nad three. Or jsut get a null modem adapter.

Yep , Pins 2 and 3 need to be switched, or you can get a null modem adapter from radio shack.

If that's all you want, I've got four cables and cd's in front of me right now. Just got done makin' em yesterday. The software is MMCD which is freeware. Let me know if you're interseted in one. they're cheeeeeep

Cheaper than a $2 null modem adapter?
|
I've already got the MMCD software downloaded and have the laptop cable ran under my dash so I think I'm gonna go with the adaptor. Thanks guys. I originally had it setup for my laptop withe the technomotive software, but I finally got my palm so I downloaded MMCD. I would like to keep the cable I have in there installed so I can use my laptop when I want to do more detailed logging and troubleshooting.

Well I guess not. in fact not even close. LOL. But I am a helluva lot cheaper than anybody on Tuners or Ebay for the same thing it's only a day or two away tops. I am sorry if I'm coming across like I'm trying to sell anyone on one of these cables. I was just reading the forums and seen this post and thought I would offer one. I already have the ones I made sold but I could whip up another one or two without too much trouble. I wasn't aware that it was that easy to use the same cables with a palm and a laptop. I guess that's because I only have a palm. Just tryin to help.

Well got it going. Thanks guys.
