I like an automatic DSM...

You know what, after spending some time riding around in my automatic 1G I came to the conclusion that I like my automatic DSM more so than my old manual 1G . I never really liked the heavy clutch pedal feel of the ACT26000 in my old car. I got used to it but it wasn't necessarily enjoyable riding in stop and go traffic. Having no AC in my old car wasn't very enjoyable either. This is my first automatic DSM. Before all I wanted was a 5 speed manual and I didn't want an automatic. Now that I have an automatic, I am so glad I got it instead of a manual.

Ha, I miss my old auto sometimes, I sold it to buy a manual since I wanted to go racing with it. I specifically bought an auto to take advantage of having full boost the whole way down the track, but there was little to no parts or knowledge of the autos back then. In fact the only guy doing it, Russ Coxe, had a lot of trouble with it. Now it's the "in" thing to do, funny how things come around.

Yeah exactly what I was thinking too. Autos weren't the "in" thing and everyone kept saying just get a manual. Now it seems autos are becoming more and more popular.

It also doesn't help that heavily modded dsm with a heavy clutch was the first manual you owned.

Everyone wants to be faster in teh 1/4 and doesn't want their lack of driving ability to show. Not to mention the transmissions are stronger for those actually making the power to break them not just beating the shit out of their cars at mediocre levels.

I wish I would've known how to increase the line pressure back then, I couldn't even find info on better tranny fluids back then, much less get a shift kit or the electronics to increase line pressure. I ended up getting a little improvement using B&M Trick Shift. Of course I was only running a swapped in 14b, K&N, custom 3" catback and the DSM.org free mods. Times sure have changed.

After looking into this as well it's way easyier to just find an auto then to swap and it is the in thing these days because everyone is trying to shave .01 of a second off their times. Who needs to be good a shifting when you can just hold the pedal to the floor? It really is the ultimate driver mod!

ya but to do the auto properly there is much more of an initial investment when rebuilding
