For some reason its alot harder to put your car back together when you wait a year. Glad I broke the timing belt on my 90 gsx to get me off my ass and steal bolts from it to fix my 98 gsx. If anyone happens to know WHAT, WHY, or HOW the following are supposed to be used that would be great thanks. <See Pictures Below>

and there is this one, these are both right by the oil filter, and the FRAM piece of shit is only on there because 1.) Super Walmart is open at 230 AM and 2.) Nothing scares me away from not breaking my motor in then shitty plugs and shitty filters that are only for the breaking in period.
This looks like something rigged up by the previous owner, any clues or knowledge please pass it on. |
This sounds nuts but would the car even start with no o2 sensor, I am unsure about mine right now on quality and how well it is working?

1st pic......... Silicone hose and 2 hose clamps. Or get a 89-91 Turbo filter housing and a real oil cooler.
2nd pic.........that is the turbo oil feed line for non-ball bearing turbos. If its not used cap it off or plug it. Bad spot for a oil pressure gauge too. Don't ask me how I know. Your car should start and run without a O2 sensor.........it will however show an check engine light(CEL). -Matt |
Yeah, he is right. There is supposed to be a hose connecing hte two lines in the first picture along with some hose clamps to hold it on.
The second pic is the factory oil feed line hose on a 2g. You can either pull the plug out like you are supposed to or do something to try and cap it off. I was having problems finding a plug that will fit the hole so we went over to QPR nad had Mike weld the hole shut. Did this on two occasions. Works fine. As far as the 2nd o2 sensor, why don't you just buy one? It may pop a CEL upon startup but all cars are different. It wouldnt hurt anything not having it in there though. Mitsu should stock them. |
And scrap that Damn FRAM filter! The check valves in those are made of rubber which expand, contract, deteriorate, flex and come loose; plugging your oil system and destroying your engine.
I work at a dealership, and one of our customers is batteling FRAM to pay for the engine/labor. Get a WIX or Purolator. Purolator makes most OEM (Mopar, Ford, Etc.) filters. -Matt |
