Fuck it, traded in the GTS for a Ralliart.
Ok so, I decided to utilize my 30 day trade in over at WB Mitsubishi. I'm trading in the GTS for a Ralliart and eating the higher monthly payments.
So, in my first post (http://www.mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30165) I had some questions about relatively inexpensive ways to increase HP and torque. The general consensus was that this wasn't going to shit for a GTS. Is this now different for the Ralliart? |

Yes, much different now :)
Take it to get tuned and you will pick up quite a bit of power. then after that you can start putting boltons on the car, exhaust first I'd say and then a testpipe and more tuning etc etc. I guess first question, what kind of money do you have to spend? edit: congrats on the pickup! |

Awesome! The RA is basically a baby Evo. Heck, toss some stock Evo parts on it, give it a tune, and it'll be pretty damn fun.

The RA has a pretty small single-scroll turbo, so my advice would be to upgrade to a stock Evo X twin-scroll turbo setup which can be had for roughly $600-700 in nice condition. While you're at it, do a Evo X intercooler and pipe set too, this would probably cost you $200-250 for the complete set. Add in a 3-port boost control solenoid and the total comes in around $1000, get AEM's new RA intake for probably $300, plus a testpipe for $150, add in a tune for $300, and you're sitting at $1750 total (roughly). That would be a pretty solid mod list and will put down more power than a stock Evo X for under $2k in mods.

Hell yes! Yea just look for evoX parts and swap them on, those will be your best bang-for-your-buck mods.

You can bolt the Evo X turbo on to the Ralliart, but it isn't as simple as just swapping the turbo, you need the complete Evo X turbo system to do the swap(turbo, exh manifold, o2 housing, inlet elbow, downpipe, oil/coolant lines, gaskets, Evo X intake).
Your best bet for boost control is to put an upgraded 3-port solenoid on it and get tuned. You don't want to just throw a manual boost controller on it and crank it up. The Ralliart runs a different boost control setup than the Evo X, which isn't a bad thing, since the passive and reactive boost solenoid stuff that the X uses stock is kinda stupid. The attached dyno sheet is a Ralliart on the stock turbo that I tuned on E85 cranking the hell out of the tiny turbo. The numbers are in shootout/dynojet mode though. |

haha! What fueling mods were on that thing? You could almost do that on the stockers with an upgraded fuel pump behind it.... :P

Probably 1000cc, stockers wouldn't quite make it that far on E85.

That's a decent looking graph for sure, nice powerband.
For bang for the buck it looks like a toss up between going evo x parts and pump gas vs. stock ralliart stuff and e85. Prolly close in price, I'd go evo x parts first, that way you can go E85 after for the next upgrade. Plenty of us local X guys have stock X parts laying around. |

Yip, I have my stock X turbo/manifold/o2 housing in my garage if you're interested, minus the lines and such.
