With the fall of Mitsu in the cross hairs, I thought it would be notable to say that Daimler Chrysler put up it's 1 Billion Shares of Hyundai up for sale.

As you know, (and if you didn't) Hyundai has depended on Chrysler and Mitsubishi for engines. The next generation Eclipse and Tiburon were also going to share a platform with the Dodge Stratus R/T and the Chrysler Sebring LXi.

Those German bastards are out to ruin the future of our hobby. Buy Japanese.

Am I the only one jumping up and down, going "WOOHOO"?

Besides the Evo, Mitsu sells junk in my opinion. Same with Hyundai. I'm sure the other Japanese giants wont fall in the shitter because the worst of the Asian companies failed. Its economics, and more than that, its their own damn fault.

A//// Guy 05-17-2004 12:45 PM

Thats good maybe the evo will get cheaper :)

Halon 05-17-2004 12:47 PM

im not jumping. I like mitsubishi. I've always had good customer service from them, and I like their syling, with the exception of the new galants which i think are ugly. But I like lancers, the 2000 style galants, the montero's, the eclipses (i admit i like how the 3g's look). I like that, I'm sad to see em go.

FattyBoomBatty 05-17-2004 01:04 PM

they haven't gone under yet have they? they are just down and out, but not dead.

1ViciousGSX 05-17-2004 01:35 PM

We all better hope Mitsu doesn't go under. WE NEED PARTS TO KEEP OUT CARS GOING. :goodluck:

Halon 05-17-2004 02:56 PM

The local mitsu dealer is now gone, it's a suzuki dealer now. That tells me that they are on their way out.

JDM 05-17-2004 07:50 PM

If Mitsu Tanks, and Hyundai follows suit, then the greedy bastards at Daimler can pick up the premium factory space, parts, names, and other premiums at a Wal-Mart Bargain bin price. Just like on Tommy Boy. Why buy from them when you can run em' outta business, then use the factories to keep building the same parts, call em' something better, and charge more, make more, therefore increasing profit margin.

I'm fairly dissapointed, but I'll live.

niterydr 05-18-2004 04:10 AM

I hope that protege fmic kit takes off :). LOL!
actually if mitsu tanks, kiss dsm's goodbuy.
time to start buying up maintence items.

Enes 05-18-2004 09:03 AM

You know about the ONLY thing we would need to be buying from Mitsu would be the timing belt stuff, really, almost everything else i think we can get some other place.... maybe exhaust gaskets.... and a few minor things too... but hell i might just stock up on a few of those before the dealer closes.

do chrystler dealers sell that stuff? I mean I know if my car had a problem that needed to be worked on, I can't bring it to a Mitsu dealer because it's an eagle. So instead I'd bring it to a chrystler dealer. So I'd think they would have the same parts and they will still be around. Or am I totally wrong in my thinking?

thats exactly what i think.

Kracka 05-19-2004 01:18 AM

Chrysler gets all of their Laser and Talon parts directly from Mitsu; go to Chrysler and order a part...it will come in a Mitsu box but for a lot higher price since Chrysler wants a cut too.

Halon 05-19-2004 01:30 AM

bastards

JDM 05-19-2004 04:25 AM

Joe K and I went to Hudson Chrysler for a stabilizer linkage for a Chrylser LXi, $66

Mitsu Eclipse GS $24

What the fuck.
