I wouldn't be driving anywhere with a loose timing belt

Brookdale mitsubishi would be your best local bet for sourcing the parts at a discount.

Its a friend of mine who is doing a payment plan with me because of hard times right now...

Do you or anyone have the parts on hand that I could bid on?

Re: WTB: Mechanic to do my Timing Belt on 2GA!!

I would call Brookdale Mitsubishi. Depending upon the age of the car you want a belt, tensioner, idler pulley, tensioner pulley, balance shaft belt.

It has been a few years since I've bought the parts but I would estimate the belt to be $60, Tensioner $100, Idler pulley, $20, Tensioner pulley $25, balance shaft belt $25.

I would recommend a water pump as well while you are there, should set you back another $60 if you went aftermarket.

Pulley's, tensioner's, belts, stick with OEM. Water pump you are much cheaper going aftermarket in my opinion.

Make sure your friend has the proper tools to tension it or your special deal may end up costing you big bucks when the valves get munched by the pistons.

Did you even bother checking with our forum sponsors? :)

I know modern has a kit for 160$...Probably my best bet atm..

I tend to stay away from Crookdale Mitsubishi because they want 14$ a piece on bolts, I think 1,500$ it was for a brand new FMIC core on a Evo also...just so pricey IMO

I am sure Map, Primo, or DB could put together a wicked package price.

$219 if you add the BS belt and pulley (unless your friend is pulling the oil pump and eliminating that while he is there). Still A++ pricing from MAP.

Isn't the BS eliminator kit really cheap? Is it practical to eliminate that while where doin the timing belt

No its not that easy. I would buy the balance shaft stuff, most of the time this is what breaks first and takes out the timing belt.
