95 7 bolt motor in a 98 eclipse, Crank Sensor
Ok Im looking at picking up a 95 7 bolt motor from a local and Im planing on dropping the motor in my 98 eclipse and the guy I bought the motor from said something about the crank sensor is different on the 95 motor compared to the 98 motor.
My question is what's the difference and what do I have to do to get the motor to run in the car? Thanks Troy. |
Re: 95 7 bolt motor in a 98 eclipse, Crank Sensor
It's not the crank sensor, it's the cam sensor. The 95-96 have the sensor behind the cam gear, the rest have it on the other end of the cam right on the passenger side of the valve cover.
You should be able to take the necessary parts off your old 98 motor and put them on the new one. |

Ok so I should be able to use the 95 7 bolt motor and 95 7 bolt head without any fabrication to the wiring?

Yep just swap sensors.

Will placing a 98 cam in the 95 head allow me to connect the 98 cam sensor?

Re: 95 7 bolt motor in a 98 eclipse, Crank Sensor
Im 95% sure the cam is already cut to fit in the sensor but otherwise yes that is all that would be needed.
