Re: WHY !!!
happy b day jason Fk you talon ....

Re: WHY !!!
Well you did mention the 88 octane in the other thread, were you boosting a lot on bad gas or what? It could also be a bad injector that caused it.
OR it could be a valve that broke and bounced around inside cylinder 1 and trashed the head and spark plug, I believe the same thing has happened to a few local members, maybe Brandon (Halon). Happy 26th bday btw. Drink up and have a sexy adventure rumpus with someone who smells nice! |

Fuuuuuuk. At least it got you there ok! Sorry man; happy birthday!

Re: WHY !!!
Ouch :( Hopefully you can source a new head and get it installed easily enough. Is the DSM your only car out there?

Re: WHY !!!
Wow!

Re: WHY !!!
Looks like my spark plug. I still don't know what caused my problem. I was driving home from the gas station about a mile away, driving like a granny. Not getting into boost or anything. All of a sudden CLANK CLANK. Coasted into a parking lot. Removed the head and found a valve laying in there. The stock valves are a 2 piece design, and where mine was broken seemed like the spot where the 2 pieces would have fuzed together. So it seemed like just a random valve failure in my case, and that's the best I could come up with. I feel your pain, sucks man.
I fixed it the cheap route. Replaced the head with a 2G head. Replaced the Piston/Rod in that one cylinder. New rod bearings throughout. Bada bing. http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthr...t=wtf+clanking |
Re: WHY !!!
Thats actually typical of DSMs. The minute you take any attention away from the car, she punches you in the face and tells you to pay attention. (much like a woman ;) ) Happy bday.

Re: WHY !!!
I vote the valve or an injector partial failure. If it was octane it would show up on more than one cylinder unless you have severly unequal flow across your intake ports.
If it was an injector full failure (aka not spraying) nothing would happen. |

i VOTE valve keeper dropping a valve into cylinder and destroying the engine fuck im pissed never seen huge power .... i feel sick ... ahhhhhh i guess thats what i get for NOT doing anything to the head before the rebuild
i NEVER revved it past 6500 i was driving and it just let go ..:angryfire: Attachment 11320 Attachment 11321 |
Re: WHY !!!
i dont know if i would be able to just put another piston in being i would have to re ring the whole engine + new rod and main berrings guessing those are going to be fucked too i dont get it ...
|
Re: WHY !!!
Sorry for your loss, not the first time I've seen a valve drop on a dsm like that randomly.
|
Re: WHY !!!
Well, at least it waited to drop till you got to Cali, and didn't fuck up in the mountains or in the middle of nowhere.
|
Re: WHY !!!
Damn! Did you happen to look at my thread? Looks EXACTLY the same! I just rebuilt the one cylinder and let er buck.
|
Re: WHY !!!
If your crank pulley broke, could that of been the problem?
|
Re: WHY !!!
Gezus fuk! That is some serious carnage! Def take brandon's advice if you can; hopefully she'll be back on the road lickity-split!

Re: WHY !!!
He wrote in another thread that that pulley broke, so I agree it might have been part of the problem.
|
Re: WHY !!!
Damn, that is some crazy shit. depending on the mileage, might be time for a complete build.
