BOV Fluttering?

Is this fluttering? This is all under vacuum and not on boost. It spent a good 15 minutes getting warmed up.

Car is not tuned yet, I just started it up because it hasn't been started during these cold winter nights. When I was putting the 2g mas+intake in, the turbo had EXTREMELY small in and out play, probably not even notable. No side to side either. I know it isn't recirculated and I probably won't recirculate it till the snow melts because that's when I'll get it tuned.

EDIT:
Here's the second video

try it now. ....tried to embed it but probably used the wrong code.

Is the BOV return hole on the intake blocked off and I can't see it? It looks open in that video.

there's 2 of those vacuum hoses on the bov and i have the top hose from the bov connected going to the intake manifold and just left the bottom one open. as for the intake pipe itself, I also haven't plugged the 2 other holes so nothing else is connected to the intake pipe.

thats where the issue is they both have to be connected and im pretty sure you can just connect them both to the same source

^ or block one off.. Pretty sure I blocked off the Greddy S that I had..

Re: BOV Fluttering?

hmm, yeah, that would make sense to block off the lower one.

Re: BOV Fluttering?

one might be for a higher boost setting so try it on the other one too

Re: BOV Fluttering?

You have to plug the BOV return on the intake pipe otherwise you are letting in unmetered air. Even if you dont recirc the BOV you have to plug that hole in the intake.

Re: BOV Fluttering?

Leave the lower port open, so that the diaphragm can move up and down freely. And you need to plug that open hole in the intake after the MAF.

Re: BOV Fluttering?

That's all compressor surge. Where do you have the BOV vacuum hose hooked up? The BOV isn't even moving.

yep...yep it is :( this is possibly a reason why also.

I really doubt it is compressor surge because if it was, i'm quite sure i can play with the compressor wheel but thankfully it isn't like that.

That is not compressor surge. Compressor surge only happens under load when the turbo is near peak efficiency. See Kevin's video.

Your BOV is fluttering, but it's nothing to worry about as long as it holds boost. You can screw down the bolt on top of the BOV to give it more tension and that will help prevent the fluttering and cause it to only be open or closed. To be honest, as long as the car runs fine, drives fine and the BOV doesn't leak then it can act however it wants.

Re: BOV Fluttering?

It doesn't appear it is opening at all. You sure you vac reference is hooked up correctly.

Re: BOV Fluttering?

doesn't having a non-opening BOV still put unnecessary stress on the turbo?
