4G37 engine swap, out of an auto into a manual
So I got a call from a friend who has a 4G37 to replace the junk one in my 94 eclipse. I think it will be fine, but the replacement motor is from an auto trans, and my car is a manual. Experience with earlier V8s from Detroit has taught me that sometimes there are issues with this, as the crank might not be drilled or have the bearing to support the input shaft of the trans.
This concern might be undue, as the pilot bearing might be in the flywheel on this motor, perhaps someone could enlighten me if this motor will be a direct swap? Thanks, Dave |

The cranks are identical in the 2.0 Mitsu motors, I don't know anything about the 1.8's, I'd guess they'd also be the same though.

That sounds pretty promising. Thanks.

Turns out the motor is a 4G63. I guess he never bothered to actually look at the valve cover. I guess my hunt continues.
