Vacation

Where would be a good place to take a trip to see another country? I have never been on a plane and really want to see what another country is like. 3rd world countrys would be a +. I want to see how other people live. I would like to go to a country where there is 1st world and 3rd world aspects. Any ides?

I really liked Poland, definitely the nice touristy areas around Krakow and the suburbs and the countryside all pretty close. Plus seeing Auschwitz since it's nearby.
Really anything in Europe you would see a wide range of living conditions, but probably not as extreme as say parts of Asia. I also liked Budapest and almost all of Italy.

Luang Prabang, Laos. I'm kind of biased though. Thailand would be good choice to.

Went to Thailand and Laos last year. You will need a tour guide in Laos because that place is pretty much 3rd world country. There are some pretty sweet places to go sight seeing though.

As for Thailand, visit Chiang Mai. That place is pretty much modernized 1st world and Laos would be 3rd world and both places are pretty fun. Food is cheap, Hotels where Kings and Queens slept are $12 a night. Yeah, $12 a night and I was told by my cousin that there are WAY more modern hotels(in Chiang Mai) that are much nicer that are for $9 a night. Chiang Mai was pretty fun, probably would've been even crazier if the family wasn't with us.

Mexico? That's the first country I ever went to. I thought it was a good "starter" because you can still stay at a comfortable place, lots of people speak English, you can venture into the markets to experience the poorer life, and you're not THAT far from home.

That's just my personal suggestion considering you are saying you really haven't traveled much before. I don't think jumping in with both feet into a 3rd world experience when you've never even been on a plane before is that great of an idea.

I've only been to Germany but would go back there in a heartbeat.

I had a damn blast going to the UK in 2001-2002:

I lived in Edinburgh and while not third world, I definitely saw all extremes of society and lived life to its fullest.

The Bahama's was awesome when I was there in November. Took a cruise down there. It was pretty fun and the place is beautiful!
