Window Tinting

My family has a few car that they are looking to get tinted. Does anybody have anyone that they would recommend or have reasonable prices? Thanks.

Re: Window Tinting

shops can no longer tint below legal limit, which for the front windows is 50%, so you need to find a person that is willing to do it.

Theres a person named Tien or something on the mnsc board. I'm pretty sure a few guys from here have used him to.

I think it was called Street Scenes or something that tinted my Saab and a bunch of people's cars on here. I think they did a great job, would definitely go back.

Two things.... First there is probably 20 threads about this subject alone and one of them is within the last 2 months so search.

Two, I had my tint done by a shop at 30% all around, so when did that law happen?

But to be semi helpful tiens shop is called tint pros. Use them, they rock. Street scenes is closed. Least the good one.

They closed down, or moved. One of the two.

Thanks everyone for your input. Im gonna check out that Tien guy at TintPro's. I looked at there website and there prices looked pretty reasonable. The whole not being able to tint below 50% is bullshit though, really sucks.

Minnesota State law says %50. Why cause a future ticket.

because I've been rolling with 30% for awhile now and havent gotten nabbed for it (knock on wood).

I chalk it up to not being a total ass hat driver.

Front windows in a Truck/SUV maybe...

Not sure where the literature is, but Trucks/SUV's only have to comply to the 50% on the front 2 passenger/driver's windows and the windsheild. Cars are held to a different standard, they have to comply to 50% with every window in the vehicle. Look it up if you want.

Meh, all depends on where you are. My parent both get hit a few times a year for tint. They both drive slow, Dad drives an 03 Dodge Diesel Ram, Mom drives a 07ish Dodge Aspen. Does not matter what you drive or how you drive. State Poopers seem to be the only ones that even care though.

Good thing I dont see a lot of the state troopers then. Plymouth and Burnsville PD's seem to leave me alone.

This is Tiens new shop, he used to have street scenes tint.

http://www.tintprosmobile.com/contact.html

Contact them, they might still be able to do it but I dont know. I had mine done by him at 35% and have never been bothered.

kracka got a tint ticket in maple grove when he gave me a ride in his evo 9. I believe he got it dropped by showing a picture of his car before the tint. hahah

I was pulled over in Isanti on Monday morning specifically for window tint. He tested my windows at 18%. I didn't get a ticket though, I just told him I bought the car that way and had never been pulled over for it before.

Re: Window Tinting

^^ Cambridge/Isanti area troopers and Sheriff's Deputies seem to be exceptionally tough on tint. Pricks...Like there isn't enough meth heads to go fuck with in Isanti...

Re: Window Tinting

Yeah. This was an Isanti cop that pulled me over. He was going the opposite way and turned around to get up behind me. I thought he was pulling me over for speed since I was going 40 in a 30.

Re: Window Tinting

I wonder what I cop would say if you told them that the 30% tint was done before the law went into affect, Because I know some of the Pontiac Grand am GT came with a 45% tint from the factory and I see alot of those on the road.

Re: Window Tinting

You can easily tell if the tint is a film or built into the glass. If it's built into the glass you probably have a chance of fighting it.

the 50% law has been in effect for a while now.

And if you told him that, he would prolly say "here's your ticket and court date." Especially since you clearly knew the law but did nothing to mend your vehicle.
