Re: GI bill.
I've used almost all of mine so far and haven't had an issue. Setting it up can be a pain in the ass, but once that's done, there is little to do other than verify your attendance every month.
You would be best off talking to the VA Certification official at the school you plan on attending, they can get you setup and answer all your questions. There is a few different GI Bill programs out there now, so make sure you pick the one that best suits your needs as far as money and housing costs, etc. (pretty much, pick the one that will make you the most money) Explore this site: http://www.gibill.va.gov/apply-for-benefits/ it has almost any info you could need, anything this site cannot tell you, or you don't fully understand, your schools VA certifying official should be able to answer. Good luck. |
Re: GI bill.
As far as the most money, then the post 9/11 bill will line your pockets just fine and is all around a kick ass bill to use.
As far as setting it up goes, you just gotta file for it, you can do that thru VONAPP, then wait for the certificate of eligibility show up in the mail, bring that to your certifying official, and you are off to the horse races. It is pretty easy man. Sorry to hear about the ad sep. That blows. |
Re: GI bill.
The 9/11 GI BIll is not the best for everyone though. It all depends on where you live and what the BAH for your area is. For me, the Chapter 30 (Active) GI Bill was the best option for me. I would have been making ~$150 LESS a month with the 9/11 Bill.
Make sure to do your research, that site I linked you to has a calculator so you can see what the best one for you will be. |
Re: GI bill.
The Navy is full?
The GI bill rocks, I never ended up using all of mine and it supposedly expires after ten years, but I've now heard it's extended sometimes. I'd love to be able to tap into that again, preferably for some TIG courses. :) |
Re: GI bill.
Well its not that the navy is full its just that they dont have spots for me. I have to crossrate (change Mos) and it was denied so yea now either ill be out of the navy in 15 days or in jan depending on some paper work stuff.. So yea.

Re: GI bill.
I'm using CH31, much better then CH30 or Post911, but i don't think you'll qualify.

Re: GI bill.
All Im saying is, for me, 60% of my school paid for, plus $850 a month living, and $300 book stipend aint bad. And it goes up the more active duty time you have.

Re: GI bill.
I only have 13 months of active tho, if I had 36 months it would be ~$1500 a month and 100% tuition, so for me 9/11 was the best bill for me.
And this semester I needed every book I bought. Jist saying. And what bill are you on goodhart? |
Re: GI bill.
I am on Chapter 30 Active GI Bill
|
Re: GI bill.
Ahh, see thats not an option for me. Being I was a part-timer.

Re: GI bill.
I was too. ;)
Being on a scheduled 18 month deployment that turned into a 2 year deployment, and having Pawlenty as Governor helped that though. :D Pretty much, since we got fucked so hard Pawlenty put up a fuss and in return we got Active Duty GI Bill benefits. Nice trade for all the BS we got put through I would say. |
Re: GI bill.
Yeah, I would say so. Well there ya go, Active GI bill is better than 13 month 9/11 GI Bill haha.
Hope some of this helps ya Ahrens |
