Its back together and runs great
But apparently too loud. I got pulled over for the first time in 13 years, for loud exhaust, but the cop was real nice and just said to fix it. I still have to figure out link and fix a few small things, but she runs great for going through a full rebuild. The new motor has 180psi compression cold, so she's tight. Funny how things have come full circle and I now have almost the same setup I had in 1999, before I thought I wanted a race car. It drives so much better, I actually enjoy it again.

Re: Its back together and runs great
Congrats! I assume this is the blue "beast" making it's return to fun again?

Re: Its back together and runs great
Glad you got it running. Hope those parts worked for you.

Re: Its back together and runs great
Awesome! At least someone's project got finished 100%. Any pics? Care to share any details of the setup/build for those of us that aren't completely in the loop?

Sweet. Gimme a shout if you need a hand, I gotta come check it out!

Re: Its back together and runs great
It's a beautiful sight, and I know 100% he is gonna love the car in its current form.
Its basically a stock rebuild with a 16G on E85, down to the sidemount. |
Re: Its back together and runs great
I found this:
Vibrants new line of ultra quiet resonators and mufflers that come in flat black with both single and twin tips. I might have to get rid of my cutout for this. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vend...flers-too.html |
Re: Its back together and runs great
Yeah, like Aaron said. I sold off all the fast stuff last year because I was tired of it. Now it's got the following and going for a mostly stock appearance.
2g piston/1G rod shortblock with no BS(literally) 1G head HKS 272's ARP's 1G IM EVO3 ex mani EVO3 16g EVO3 o2 housing HKS 1g maf HKS IC piping HKS big sidemount Wally 255 single, 3/8" line all the way to filter Shep stage 3 tranny used Southbend CXFD(?) clutch Apexi downpipe/Thermal catback(gotta quiet this down) ECMlink V2, soon to be V3 SD over the winter I kept the rollbar but cut out the sidebars and harness bar so the kids could ride in the back. The interior is all back in and stock appearing, but dynamatted and has a modest soundsystem. Mods over the winter are mostly just fixing some hail damage, engine detailing and paint, fixing any leaks or problems and switching to a 2g head and EVO3 IM and TB. |

Re: Its back together and runs great
BTW, on wastegate pressure with no tuning, it feels real strong. I have a feeling the instant torque that I'm not used to is going to put a smile on my face every day.

Re: Its back together and runs great
I might switch over to that muffler as well. This Thermal was used, apparently more than I thought because it's louder than the ones I've had in the past. It actually is almost as loud as my 3.5" was.

Re: Its back together and runs great
I also have a vibrant 3" resonator if you wanted to put it inline somewhere up-stream.

Re: Its back together and runs great
Nothing wrong with having a nice driver. I miss my stock turbo/E85 setup.

Re: Its back together and runs great
Do you plan on road racing the car at all?

Re: Its back together and runs great
Nice! I loved the E316g setup I had on my DSM. Mine was set up very similar to yours except I had JE 8.5:1 pistons on Eagle rods, Magnus IM, Tial external WG, and a FMIC. I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of your setup. Insti-torque FTW
