New guy on the board
Hello everyone, my name is Wade and i have recently purchased sleepydsm's 1g. I have been searching on the board for a while, and i figured it is time to introduce myself. I am a tech at St. Anthony Mobil, and i currently am in school for Auto Tech at Dunwoody. I hope to learn a lot from this board, and hopefully contribute some information to the community. I will continue in tastefully modding Kevins old car, and hope to make it even cleaner.

Clean car!! I already miss it.
Frisvold was an interesting teacher. Cunningham was the shit! Welcome. Good luck to you and the car in the future. That power level is nothing to laugh at, so please don't wrap it around a tree :) |

@AlphaD I am in 5th quarter right now in Mr. Beadell's performance class @MattD I am in the general program so I haven't had Lee in my courses. He seems like an extremely knowledgeable person though from our brief conversations. What's your last name? I will tell him you say hello. @Swifty Cunningham was probably my favorite teacher. I can assure you that this car will receive the highest level of respect. It is much faster than anything that i have owned, and i already don't know what i would do if something happened to it! @Kevin You know i will! I will not disappoint your post ownership expectations ha. Some of the goals that I would like to reach by next summer would be to install a twin pump setup, going with a high quality 2.3 build, and possibly switching turbo/mani. setup. That is of course very dependent on everything holding up. |

Re: New guy on the board
3 year sleepydsm bump! I forgot about this thread. It is pretty funny to look back at when I got the car compared to where it is now! I am not doing much with the car this winter. I put it away in good running condition last year, which was a first. I would like to get it back to Ron's to see if it can keep a head gasket in it with a bit more power. The night before the Porky's shootout it blew a headgasket on Ron's dyno so we had to stop at 720. I did a last minute head gasket swap and went down to cedar falls to try to get my 8 second pass. I was really hopeful, as it did the 9.22 on nearly 100 less hp, and my car is over 100 lbs lighter now. Things didn't go as planned!
I have to really step on the brake pedal to stop the car from pulling through the brakes at the line. When I was on the brakes and spraying through the two step, I heard a loud bang when the light turned green. I launched hard so I stayed in it for a second thinking maybe it was a backfire. In second gear I realized what might have happened and poked the brake pedal. NOTHING! shit shit shit! No handbrake no foot brake at 90mph. All I could do was ratchet back down the gears. Luckily the guy next to me broke, so I had room to get to the turnoff. Turns out I broke the ears off my master cylinder. I have never seen that one before. I have a new smaller diameter master cylinder on it now, and am trying to get out to make some license passes in April so I don't get booted anymore. The cams are plain jane gsc s3's thrown in on stock gears. Here are some pictures of the headgasket blowout, and the master cylinder carnage. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...012_120919.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...012_121702.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...011_201754.jpg Kelsey took this picture with her phone and I like it a lot http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...f33e4bfd34.jpg |
Re: New guy on the board
Did you ever post that master cylinder stuff on link? That's nuts I haven't heard of that.
I was pondering a GSC S3 setup, but I think I'd better do a 2. Good luck this year. Gonna see you on the streets anytime? |
