My GVR4

2 Attachment(s)
hey guys this is my first post on style. My name is Jeff and im currently workin on my nile black 91 galant vr4 (14/2000). before i start talking about the car i should probably note that this is my first dsm build but im learning about the love/hate relationship fairly quick. So any comments helpful or arrogant are appreciated.

OK!, well i picked this thing up about 2 months ago non-running and ive been working the kinks out / doing basic maintenince that you would on any car thats been sitting 3 years ever since. First thing i noticed was the oil feed line in the tranny for 5th gear was busted and the throwout bearing had seen better days. Bought another tranny and throwout bearing and bolted them up. Im gonna skip some boring steps (new oil in gearboxes, new battery, ALL new acc belts and t-belts, fixing frozen calipers, etc.) Anyway upon first startup my car was loping like it had some 280's fueled by crack but when i would blip the throttle it would cut out. so i suspected i was lacking in fuel pressure so i said well whats the first thing to do about that? new fuel filter in and sure enough when i replaced the filter i was not sprayed with fuel, not even a drop leaked out. so i decided to just go ahead and do part of my fuel system early: adjustable pressure reg, walboro 255hp and new wires all the way through.

Thats is pretty much where im at right now, ive gotten a couple other things for the near future, megan 3inch downpipe, lotec pod with NO gauges yet lol.. and a gm maf with matf for when i do get that wideband and ecmlink logging.

hopefully the pics work, otherwise heres a video ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH40j76I0NQ

Re: My GVR4

your description of it sounding like 280s on crack, to me sounds like your base timing (set with timing light) isnt set correctly (timing ground out and set to +5degrees)

Sounds like you have a good start. Also make sure the mass airflow sensor is plugged in, I've heard a car run as described with the MAS unplugged.

Looks pretty clean. If I ever buy a 2nd one, it's going to be black. Good luck!

Car looks good! I haven't seen any GVR4's in black before this one! Do you live just down the street from me? I'm pretty sure I've seen this car alot in a driveway near by!
