Anyone have a timesert 8mmx1.25 kit?
It seems who ever owned my car before me helicoiled every exhaust manifold thread and now it's screwing me over. I have a torque wrench so I know I'm not overtightening them. I was trying to fix loose manibolts and I got to one that I couldn't get to torque and I got nervous and then bam, it ripped out the hilicoil. Anyways I have 2 studs that should be fixed so I am hoping someone has a timesert kit so I can do it right and not use shitty helicoils anymore. Let me know if you can help, I will compensate you, I live in savage. Here is what I am looking for http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TIME-...item414c0716ba
Or if someone can weld aluminum and is willing to fill the holes so I can retap them that is also an option. |

Actually I did a little more digging and I need the bigsert kit because it was already helicoiled. If you have the kit and would let me use it I will make it worth your while.

why not just drill and tap bigger holes?

Re: Anyone have a timesert 8mmx1.25 kit?
You mean use 2 helicoils that suck, a 9mm one then an 8mm one? The POS will probably rip out again eventually anyways. Using a timesert/bigsert seems to be the only long term solution other then replacing the head or welding and re-tapping.

I'm gonna try a helicoil, looks like it might work. I think the cheap china torque wrench might have had something to do with it but if that doesen't work I'm going to D&S sales in elkriver to get a bigsert kit for $70.
