What is a Republican?

So this is a very respectful question. I would like to know what the republicans of this site truely believe is the stance of republicans. Please try to answer this question without humor or attacking the democrats.
I want to know what you believe a republican stands for?

Re: What is a Republican?

I think the current Republican party has lost it's way, it's become the party of appeasement. What it was in the Reagan era and should be again is the party of strong national defense, free market capitalism, smaller government, cutting taxes and spending, equal rights, true freedom of religion, and a strong work ethic that comes from earning your own way. A basic belief that we are a great country, not the oppressors of the world.

I agree to this.

Re: What is a Republican?

Steve hit the nail on the head. It's what Ron Paul has all along pledged to be as a republican. He claims to be a republican only because it's the major party that most closely fits his beliefs at the moment, though he would much rather be an independent or constitution party.

Made some quick edits. from comments you have made prior. The republican side has lost their way in recent years, and if ALL republicans were to drop the bolded items, im sure they would look a lot less like complete whack jobs.
I wasnt making this thread to attack, but this is just the way the "Other" Team views the republican party and the way they the republicans always vote and talk.

I agree. WTF Tom? How many times do you need to be told to stop putting words into people's mouths? All your arguments are based off things that were never said.

So you made this thread to prove a point? You failed miserably in that regard.

Re: What is a Republican?

The whole purpose of this thread is not to attack, but with all of the threads lately about Muslim "Mosques", immegration, Gay rights, and all of these attacks at the president, i wanted to see what you guys thought your party stood for. And find the hypocracy of what you believe with what your seeing and agreeing with in the Media.
I was actually surprized at what steve wrote because it goes against a lot of what fox news and the super right tea party seems to believe with their actions.
Damn guys, i didnt think you would get all up in arms about this thread and my comment. I just believe that you should own the things you say in the forums, and copping out and saying "We believe in true freedom of religion, getting paid for hard work, and equal rights for all" then why are your actions not speaking that same language?

First off, I claim no party. Frankly, are you even a registered democrat?

What is hypocritical about us being against what we believe is wrong with this country?

It just goes to show you that we, or us "republicans" as you so eloquently put it, are open minded and are not swayed by a news source or politician.

How did we cop out of anything? You want big government to take care of everything, yet they are doing nothing of the sort as it is. All we want is this country to get back on the straight and narrow, but the current administration would rather nuke our economy, sweep civil rights issues under the rug and laugh at protecting our sovereignty.

Re: What is a Republican?

When did I ever say gays Muslims and Mexicans are evil and shouldnt have any rights?

This is what bothers me. You group ALL republicans in with your views of what they are. Just like you do with every other examples you make.

There's where you are wrong. Fox News nor the Tea Party is saying what you are trying to imply, maybe the Puffington Host is steering you wrong once again?

For the three things you referenced, I'll actually give you the perspective of 95% of Republicans out there, as referenced by Fox, Rush, Hannity and the other conservative voices. I listen to talk radio every day, so I have a pretty good idea of the general pulse of these things.

Gays: what you do in your bedroom is your business, nobody cares. But quit putting your preferences in the faces of everybody else, like I said, we don't give a shit. Marriage is for a man and a woman, make up your own damn union and legalize that to include benefits, tax incentives, etc.

Mexicans: nobody is against LEGAL Mexicans here, they add a lot to our society and are always a welcome addition. The illegal shitbags on the other hand, are a drag on our society. I'm speaking from experience here. Our company is still cleaning up multiple cases of fraud involving an illegal Mexican that was selling cars under our name without our consent, to buyers with fake SS#'s, and not transferring titles or paying off trades. He's been deported twice and is now in jail for his fourth DWI.

Muslims/Mosque: I haven't been watching much of the thing with the Mosque. I know there are some vocal opponents like Newt, but I'd guess the majority of us don't really care where it's built. I can see both sides of this argument, but I'd probably side with just putting it there. I think there should be new towers put in the place of the originals for the symbolism.

Kracka 09-02-2010 05:32 PM

Re: What is a Republican?

I agree completely with Steve about gays and Mexicans.

Regarding the "mosque" issue though, I side with the majority of Americans saying it can be built, but just put it elsewhere out of respect and to avoid controversy.

Re: What is a Republican?

Wtf, seriously? Good job man.

I'm republican, I don't care about Gay rights really. If they want to get married, whatever. It's their life.

I'm not against Muslims, or any religion really. But I'm sure you'll try to put words in my mouth, especially since you hate christians. And they make up a majority of the country.

I don't hate mexicans, but I dislike illegal mexicans as a whole. Mainly for economic reasons.

Keep changing our words please, it just makes you look stupid.

I see you obviously have little to no clue at what goes on there..

And to go along with your accusation of us believing in freedom of religion, and what I said up there.

And what part of my comment did i say that i can prove that I am god??? WTF?
Just for show? no, sorry i have trouble believing in fairy tales that were written when people still thought the world was flat.

LOL, Just coming back at what Hill was stating about Athiesm. Sorry it struck a nerve with you, but it struck a nerve with me for what he said. So explaining my views i will not apologise for.
And by saying "Fuck all your religions" is to be taken more like "With all the BS that comes from organised religion, it is my personal belief that there are a lot of people out there that take religion word for word as the truth, i chose a different path of logical reasoning and not following blind faith without proof"

You sir are a grade A fucking idiot.

If you are not making the thread to make an attack, why make the thread?
Furthermore, how dare you assume you speak for the entire democratic party, are you the new canidate elect? You are a dolt that does not have any real life experience short of what he can google.

Threads like this are exactly why I do not engage in political debate with you TOM, its like wrestling a pig in mudd. I get frustrated, and you don't even realize you and in mudd are instead are having fun.
