Evo EGR - Quick Question
I was looking at an Evo and the check engine light was on. The owner said that he removed the EGR and that was why the check engine was on. He said all Evos do that.
I have an EGR block off plate on my 1G and I don't remember it ever turning on the check engine light because the EGR was removed but and Evo and a DSM are two different cars. I don't know anything about Evos so maybe you Evo owners can give me some info on this. |
Re: Evo EGR - Quick Question
1Gs don't have much for checking anything. If you have a CEL on a 1G, you have a real problem. Any 1996+ car has all kinds of emissions checking and hundreds of CELs to possibly throw versus like 10 on a 1G.
You can disable the CEL with a tune, but you will get better gas mileage with EGR. |
Re: Evo EGR - Quick Question
How many more miles per gallon will you get with the EGR than without it?

Re: Evo EGR - Quick Question
0-5mpg

Re: Evo EGR - Quick Question
I removed the EGR on my IX and saw no change in MPG, but it definitely kept the intake manifold cooler and cleaner.

Re: Evo EGR - Quick Question
Evos are all about no CELs, ever :) You can disable all of the ones you are not concerned with (or have deleted parts for) and still get CELs for the important shit. This can all be done with ecuflash, free software. Just read read read or work with a tuner to disable them when you're in for a power tune.
