Cool, what was the problem?

Darth_Laser 04-28-2004 02:43 PM

Well, it is a little difficult to pinpoint exactly what it was but I believe it happened when i was cleaning the terminals and clamps with a wire brush, or when i cleaned the ground with steel wool? I believe that was it! Now only if I would have thought to do that sooner... :headache:

Otherwise, i was wondering, kinda off topic though, can corrosion on the terminals make your battery and alternator seem as if they are dead? perhaps i may be in the market for an alterantor otherwise!!

I would say yes and no. No: If there is a little bit of corrosion on the terminals it is still battery acid and should conduct electricity. Yes: If enough battery acid has drained out where your battery cannot store enough energy.

First step to do is clean off your terminals with a bettery brush. Next, pop the fill cover off (if it has one) and check the fluid level. If it is low, you can substitute water (I have only used distilled) for battery acid and fill it up. Charge the battery (on a charger or your car). Bring the battery or the car over to checker and have them test it for you. They will tell you if the battery is in good condition. If it is fine and you still have problems, check you alternator fuse and your alternator.
Good luck.
