Just picked up a fresh short block. Now what?
So I just picked up a fresh 6 bolt short block from a buddy who was gonna throw it. And I was pondering doing a stock style rebuild with some sort of piston rod combo or doing a 2.3 kit. When all is said and done I would love to be able to make over 400 who with the motor. What would be my best option. Thanks

Re: Just picked up a fresh short block. Now what?
I'm sure some people are going to recommend a variation with the 1g big rods and possible 2g pistons, but if I was in your position I would just go forged internals and get it out of the way. I can get you setup with a Wiseco / Eagle combo for just over $700, let me know if you're interested ;)

I'd stick with stock 1g rods/pitions if you don't plan on making much more than 400, especially if you're thinking 400 dyno jet.
There is plenty of people on here making that kind of power or more on a stock setup. Just make sure you go see Shane @ DB Performance for a tune when you're all done! |

A buddy of mine just had you guys build his motor for his evo. I think he said it was a 2.3 stroker and i kinda want to do something like, nobody around my town has done stuff like that, they just slap shit together and go. I wanna build something better. Something that can take a hell of a beating and still be daily driven. |

I did a lot of work to my galant when i first got into the DSMs years ago. But it was mainly bolt on shit. Did a stock rebuild, p&p head, ported and clipped 14b. little stuff. And now i want something that i can go bigger. I understand that fast+reliable=lots of money. Thats why i am want to start planning on what to do. Are the 2G pistons that much better? Are they just better construction or what? Thanks. |
