I'm a little surprised by the low education numbers, but everything else about Texas makes me want to move there. I still can't believe the cost of living vs white collar salaries in TX, you get a lot more for your money than MN.

Education is TX is ranked fairly low, yet had a number of top-ranked high schools in 2009 (I'll see if I can dig up this link again). I will say though, education has become one of the top priorities in TX and steps are being taken to improve it. For example, all scratch-off lottery proceeds benefit education much like MN's supports the environment. Currently, while MN cuts education funding TX is expanding it.

Here is the link. MN doesn't make an appearance on this high school list until #115 but TX is all over it (including #1).
